Since We Last Talked...

As is usually the case as the school year comes to a close, life has been busy, busy, BUSY in the Wray household.

So here are some highlights since I last blogged.

On Thursday night, Delaney's middle school choir had its Spring Concert. They started out in formal wear (Delaney's the smallest in the bunch on the front row)...

and then moved to their casual attire for the "show" portion of the concert. If you spot Delaney, you'll see that she's not shy whatsoever (you never would have guessed that, right? LOL)...

After the concert, we celebrated at our favorite local Mexican restaurant where Kayla enjoyed a birthday sombrero...

(And, for some strange reason, McKenna is in none of these pictures. She was at both the choir concert and the Awards Day coming up, but apparently was the Great Disappearing Daughter for some reason.)

On Friday morning was the Award's Day ceremony at Delaney's middle school. I was so proud of Delaney's accomplishments and involvement (as I always am). As the student body President, Delaney started off the ceremony with the pledge and the introduction of the emcee (not a good picture, but that's her behind the podium)...

and here she is getting one of her awards for the day, and the one we are most proud of--All A's for the entire 7th grade year...

and some cute pictures afterwards with Sydney and some friends...

After it was over, Delaney checked out, but first had to go to her locker. She took Sydney with her and, as a result, I got my favorite photo of the day...

On Saturday, we had our team party for Sydney's softball team. We had the BEST season and had the best group of coaches, parents, and girls. It really was a pleasure to be with all of them (and we even made some really good friends...you know? those friends you immediately feel a bond with and schedule a beach trip with! LOL), and Gary had a wonderful time (he was a bit hesitant about head-coaching again since it had been about four years since he'd done it with Delaney; but it turned out to be great!)

We had the party at one of our parents' house at the river and, even though it started out rainy, the day turned out sunny and gorgeous!

The main attraction was the presentation of the trophies to the girls.

Gary has always made a little speech whenever he's done trophy presentations, and it's so sweet. He says something nice about each of the girls (bragging on how well they did during the season) and it just makes the girls feel so special. Here are Sydney and Kelsea (he labeled them as his "most improved" players of the season, which was true; Sydney evolved into a great second baseman and, at the end of the season, had like an .800 batting average)...

and with Felicity and Bailey, our "team captains" and our circle girl (is in the pitchers mound, although she doesn't pitch) and first baseman. They had 97 outs from circle-to-first during the season and both made all stars...

Our team mom got Gary this t-shirt as his coach's gift and he LOVES it (seriously, I'm going to have to convince him that he really can't wear it to work tomorrow)...

But then the real highlight of the day was all the fun the girls got to have on the river. They swam and swam some more, and then rode on the boat, and got pulled in the innertube. It wsa great fun...

Here is Delaney (on the left) riding the waves in the innertube...

which made Sydney want to ride in it...

Which she did, with her friend Jordin and her Poppy...

but then, after having a really great time going slow, they made a circle in the water and got absolutely drenched by a huge wave. Commence the hysterical crying, and the rush to get back into the boat. I felt so sorry for them (but Gary did a great job trying to make them feel better)...

But then all was forgotten because of the allure of bubbles and cupcakes back on the shore...

(And I know, McKenna didn't appear in any of those pictures either! She, actually, went on a picnic with her boyfriend on Saturday. I'm going to have to do a photo post soon solely with pictures of her!)

In between the "big" events, there were lots of other things that were just right about this weekend: Chinese take-out, two hours of "The Mentalist," a wonderful Sunday morning church service, lots of new photos to "ooh" over, homemade lemonade with Sydney. Good Stuff.

I hope your weekend was wonderful as well. I'm thinking fondly of all of you.

Seems no matter how we try to spread them out, we always have forty eleven things to do at the end of each school year. Sounds like you have some fine girls to be proud of. Lurve Gary's shirt gift, and the photo of Delaney and Sydney. Also, the crying picture is cute, too. A story.

Have a great week!

My weekend was full of hospital visits, doing things around the house, and more hospital visits. Haha

Adrienne--A relaxing weekend actually sounds really good!! :-)

Marg--Aside from it raining some, it's gotten really pretty down South. (Of course, it will be incredibly HOT very soon!)

Maria--Thanks. It WAS a great time!

Gretchen--This time of year is CRAZY!!!

Steph--Hated that hospital visits were such a big part of it. Ugh! (How is your Dad feeling?)

What a great weekend. Going to the river for a party makes me drool. I so, love, love, love the water. I like being near it and on it, not so much in it. It looks like a great time.

I really like the picture of you in your black garb. Tell McKenna we expect some pics of her soon.

Cheryl, once again you have managed to exhaust me :-). Wow, the Wray household is just like Grand Central Station...there's ALWAYS something going on.

Where to begin?

Delaney is just the cutest thing! I just love her personality and just her character. And brains too? That's just icing on her cake! :-) I'm very proud of her and all her accomplishments. Love how involved she is. You SHOULD be proud.

Sydney...what can I say? She and Jayla are just bookends :-). She's a sweetie and seems to be following in her sisters footsteps.

McKenna...love ya...whereever you are :-D, LOL!

You and Gary...all I can say is, YOU GUYS ROCK!!! Keep up the good work.

Love ya!!!

I love the pictures! You really had an exciting weekend. I seem to have left Ross out of many of my post recently also. Anna has lots going on and he is not real crazy about me taking his picture. Was the water not cold? It looks like so much fun. Have a good week!

Travis--We wouldn't have it any other way (busy or not!).

Hippo--The river is fun, although I prefer the beach. :-) Who wouldn't, I guess? (I'll tell McKenna to get ready to say cheese!)

Dawn--You are SO sweet, and I have been missing you!!!!! (Btw...read your FB updates about the soccer team's huge wins. That's awesome!!)

Cheryl--The water was FREEZING!!!!!
