Mother's Day-- Part One!!
It's Monday morning and I'm eating DQ ice cream cake for breakfast . . . forget bacon or eggs, this rocks! The cake came from our celebrations yesterday (read on to learn more . . . )
We had a great Mother's Day filled with all the normal family drama in our household . .. fun times, irritated times, and just plain goofy times. AND very grateful times for the wonderful family I'm in!
On Sunday morning, I got up to get everyone ready for church and soon amended my plan . . . only I would be going to church, because everyone else was absolutely zonked out. (McKenna got back from 6 Flags at close to midnight, then the rest of us were at D's softball tourney down in Columbiana . . . a very tiring day for everyone!). I went to Sunday School on my own on Mother's Day (aah, don't feel sorry for me . . . it was actually a pretty nice way to start the day. I got to church ON TIME!). After church, we headed down to Tuscaloosa for lunch at Mom's. Gary, Christopher, and Dad grilled out steaks (Christopher is hands-down the best steak griller .. . does them just right!; there's a pic of them manning the grill!) and we had a yummy meal!
The kids--our girls, plus nephews Matthew and Garrett--had a really great time together. (They always do!) These pictures show some of their antics for the day--Sydney with Matthew, then Delaney, Matthew, and Garrett laughing at McKenna who was playing Mean School Master with them (SO funny!). And a picture of the boys opening up Christmas presents (yep, you heard me right . . . Mom just found the gifts my Aunt Vicki had sent for everyone, so we had Christmas in May! TOO funny!)
Then a picture of me and Christopher with Mom. Christopher is the coolest brother you could imagine--just a super nice guy (he and Danielle got me some Bath & Body Works for Mom's Day, plus he burned me the new Coldplay CD--which I'm listening to right now!)!! And Mom is wonderful--yep a little crazy, ANDt the sincerest, sweetest person ever! (Hey, I had to get it from somewhere! LOL). Very grateful on this Mother's Day!
Around 4:30, Gary started fussing at us to head out to his parents' house and by the time we left he was severely p.o.'d and the Wray family was not in a good mood! We sped down the intestate, then he bypassed the stop to his parents' house. Didn't know what he was doing--maybe he'd just had enough and we were scrapping the rest of our plans for the day! LOL "I've got some stuff to do, and I'll be at Mom's in a little bit," he declared as he slammed the car door. The girls and I drove back towards Tannehil, then Gary showed up about 20 minutes later--with the reason for his running-around in hand. He had ordered me a Dairy Queen ice cream cake and had to get it before they closed! All was forgiven! (He and the girls had already given me a gift card to Scrap Etc. that morning, then got me my FAVE ice cream cake. YUMM!!)
We had a great time at Larry and Clara's too. My in-laws are super! You couldn't ask for better ones anywhere! And we always laugh WAY too much when we're together. Today was no different! Skip below and there are some priceless photos from the evening here--Sydney chasing around Daisy, then Gary with ice cream cake all over him (Yep, after all the hoopla to get the cake, he almost dropped it as he was bringing it to the table. We laughed and laughed over that one!)
Mother's Day was awesome. Thank you for making mine so special! And remember--appreciate your Mom EVERY day! She deserves it!

I loved your blog today!! What a story about Gary and the ice cream
cake. No wonder he was ready to leave here. You should have got a shot of his sleeping here. Shows how zonked out he is.
We enjoyed the day so, so much. Thanks for everything. I LOVED my gifts! I love pictures, and I loved them for the frig. Oh, I am a little crazy!! You are right. Keeps me sane. Your
quote for the day: “ Being a little crazy keeps one sane.”
Since I wrote this morning, two other pictures—Sydney and Matthew and
the guys grilling came in. All the pictures were so good. Syd is
photogenic.

Mom
