Writing and Related Stuff . . .
It's hard to believe that the Southern Christian Writers Conference is just a week away! This is the annual writing conference my family organizes and puts on every June in Tuscaloosa. It is always an amazing time--filled with really fun fellowship with other writers (nothing like hanging out with people who understand why you love to write!) and amazing inspiration from successful and prolific writers and authors.
This year, we have an outstanding lineup of speakers, including Terri Blackstock (who is a HUGE novelist in the Christian field these days; she has sold millions of books!).
Check out the SCWC by visiting our home page. Go to www.hometown.aol.com/SCWC2006/
You can find out about all of our speakers, the writing contest we sponsor, accommodations, costs and registration. The SCWC is truly one of the best writing conferences in the country, and is the most reasonably priced! (And I'm not just biased because I'm one of the founders and a speaker!)
I just finished putting together my handouts for the conference and have started working on some items I'll be selling in the book room (copies of my book, Writing for Magazines, as well as some really cool writing journals, writing booklets, and framed quotes). You can check out my book at: www.catalogs.mhhe.com/mhhe/viewProductDetails.do?isbn=0072864915

It seems like a lot of my life revolves around writing. I write on this blog just about everyday (which, btw, is a great exercise for writers!), I journal (I've been doing a lot more journaling lately, and I'm very proud for that!), I write on my scrapbook pages (a great way to combine writing and memories), and write articles for various publications.
One of my favorite articles lately was one I wrote for The Alabama Baptist on an amazing couple and their legacy of missions work and love. It really inspired me. If you want to check it out . . . Go to www.thealabamabaptist.org/ip_template.asp?upid=10198&ctid=28
Let me know if you want to know more about the conference. It's gonna be great this year!
