Let's Count Together-- 1 . . 2. . . 3. . . 4 . . . 5

But first an update:
Staying away from blogging is much harder than you might expect. First, I'm on the computer all day anyway because I'm using it to email some sources for my articles and I'm there writing as well. Secondly, emails get sent to me when someone leaves a comment on my blog. Thirdly, my "Favorites" list stares at me unwaveringly, trying to coax me into reading other people's blogs. So, I gave into temptation once or twice (had to read Gary's post yesterday and checked out Adrienne's), but I guess I did okay. As a test of my resilience, I guess I should give it up for at least a few days (or I can already see myself being convicted during Lent, but I can't imagine giving it up for 40 days. LOL!)

I have progressed pretty well on my assignments. I have all my information for two of my articles, part of it for another two, then still absolutely nada for my fifth. But that's okay . .. at least I'm progressing (the most exciting development was getting some questions answered by Shaun Alexander--last year's NFL player of the Year, for the Seattle Seahawks, AND a former Bama great!--via email. So I didn't really get to "talk" to him, but kinda sorta. He's a really cool, nice guy!)

Now, for some Random Tuesday fun . . .

In thinking about what to do for my post today, I decided to do something that would just help us get to know each other a little bit better.

The point in today's "assignment" is to think about this in reference to how you feel RIGHT NOW. What is important to you, how do you feel right at THIS moment. So, answer these with what just first pops into your head.

ONE restaurant--

* “Pita Café” (really craving some hummus right now!! And a good piece of baklava would work too!)

TWO songs

*
“Fat Bottomed Girls” (okay, not the one you’d think huh? But McKenna’s school band is doing a Queen show this season and, I swear, I have heard this song three or four times lately on the radio—once right before I pulled into the football stadium last Friday night)

* “I Need You to Love Me” by Barlow Girl ( just love this song!! “And I’ll stop this pretending that I can/ somehow deserve what I already have”)

THREE snacks
* Salt & Pepper potato chips from Golden Flake (OBSESSED with them right now!; in fact, I'm thinking of how quickly I can go buy a new bag!)

* Milano cookies (I often stash these away!)

* Movie popcorn with layered extra butter (of course this would involve going to a movie, which I haven’t done in ages!)

FOUR Emotions

Creative, yet Tired; a bit Anxious, yet Grateful

FIVE thingsI'm looking forward to

* A Date night (sometime!) with Gary

* Delaney's softball games this upcoming weekend

* Bama vs. Arkansas (I grew up in Fayetteville so I learned how to "woo pig sooey" early in life, but now a bon-fide Alabama FAN!!)

* Pay Day!

* Disney World in October

So, let me hear yours!

Your . . . One restaurant, Two songs, Three snacks, Four emotions, and Five things to look forward to. Or, if any one of them jumps out at you, share it with the rest of us! Can't wait to hear what everyone has to say!

And now . . .

Off to work more on some assignments; try and get Sydney to sit on the Potty; try and IM with Gary (who is in Chattanooga on business); hunt down the person (or the lightning strike from the storm we had last night!) that has our cable down and is keeping Sydney from watching 'Dora the Explorer"; read some blogs (yay!); and go buy some salt and pepper chips!

Until tomorrow!!

1 -Lebanese Taverna. It is Moms' night out tonight and I missed it last time we met there. My hubby says that it is really good (he goes out for lunch A LOT so he would know!)

2 - Thunder Rolls by Garth Brooks - it always reminds me of an all-nighter I spent with hubby in college working on term papers. De Colores - the theme song of Cursillo, a retreat I went on in June and went to sing at the men's weekend on Sunday

3 - pumpkin anything! Starbucks has pumpkin scones, pumpkin muffins, and pumpkin spice lattes. Yum, yum, yum! I've been watching my calories though so generally speaking I'm trying not to think of snacks!

4 - depressed, overwhelmed, frustrated, and especially thankful for good friends. The last week has lasted an eternity and has been filled with lots of emotions related to 9-11, emergency preparedness and survival in general, and my parents' divorce and many problems related to that. The good friends are helping me deal and move forward.

5 - daughter's 5th birthday party on saturday, my mom visiting in October, my in-laws visiting in November, more date nights (never enough of those!), and getting my groove back. I'm tired of yelling at my kids and feeling too blah to even move.

ONE restaurant - Taco Casa at the moment, close, convenient and very tasty...sounds like lunch!!

TWO songs - Stained Glass Masquerade - Casting Crowns & If You're Going Thru Hell - Rodney Atkins (country)

THREE snacks - trail mix of any kind, fruit, nachos 'n cheese

FOUR emotions - frustrated, thankful, stressed, grateful. Those are kind of at the opposite ends of the spectrum?!? My car has been broke down (wouldn't start for the past 2 mornings). Got a new battery Monday morning, ran and cranked fine Monday evening. Tuesday morning, wouldn't crank. We finally found the problem yesterday afternoon. My CD player isn't stopping when I turn the car off and it has been draining my battery, so now I can't use my CD player AAAAGGGGHHHH!!!. BUT....at least it didn't cost $150 for a new alternator. So, I have been:

frustrated - to have to use my vacation day to be off work
thankful - that it didn't cost me any more $$ than a new battery
stressed - that my work here wouldn't get done and I now have 2 extra days work today
grateful - that I have a job to take vacation days from!

FIVE things I'm looking forward to - ok...you know I can't get thru one of these without saying something about the outdoors/hunting...

1. I won a quail hunt in north Alabama and I hope we can book it for February.
2. Nichole's ball tournament this weekend in Trussville
3. Melissa is doing her cheer/dance routine with her cheernastics class at a PG Jr Varsity ball game next Thursday night.
4. There is a banquet Saturday night at the McWane center that Ryan and I are going to for the Rocky Mtn Elk Foundation.
5. Looking forward to a women's retreat the weekend of October 6 & 7.
