Thanksgiving Morning Reflections . . .

I've got a short break to pop in say "Hey and Happy Thanksgiving" to all of you in BlogWorld! I woke up this morning and enjoyed a good hour or so to myself--puttering around in the kitchen making us a breakfast casserole and cinnamon rolls, drinking a mimosa, listening to the sounds of the Macy's Parade in the background, and reflecting on how good life is!

Once the house was up and around, we enjoyed a really nice breakfast while we read our Thanksgiving blessings that all of us had written during the week. We passed the basket around and everyone read one item, then guessed who wrote it. My favorite reaction was Sydney, who opened a strip of paper each time the basket came to her and concentrated real hard to "read" it to us. Six out of the ten times it came to her, she said that it read, "I'm thankful for Poppy!" (With "I'm thankful for Mommy" getting two readings, "I'm thankful for God" and "I'm thankful for little bananas" each getting one. When we asked if she was thankful for her sisters, she said "Whatever!" and mumbled, "thankful for sisters.")

My other favorites of the morning were "I'm thankful for Bama football, even though they stunk up the field really bad this year," "I'm thankful for ice cream and cheesecake because I think I would die without them," and "I'm thankful for boys, who make school good everyday" (all from Delaney--ha!)

There were a lot of other good ones too, of course . . . "I'm thankful for my three wonderful daughters," "I'm thankful for faith," "I'm thankful for malt balls" (Gary), "I'm thankful for my parents and in-laws," "I'm thankful for all my new blogging buddies," "I'm thankful for the holidays," "I'm thankful for nights out with friends (and margaritas)," "I'm thankful that Sydney goes to the potty," "I'm thankful for faith," and so much more! Just a wonderful tradition to share with the family!

Now, there is cake baking in the oven, potatoes boiling on the stove, and fruit sitting on the counter waiting to be cut up for fruit salad. We will be going to Gary's grandmothers for dinner later today, to my parents for lunch tomorrow, and we will eat until we're stuffed . . . and stop to consider how much we truly do have! We are truly blessed!

And now I leave you with a blessing for this day . .

MAY YOUR STUFFING BE TASTY, MAY YOUR TURKEY BE PLUMP.
MAY YOUR POTATOES 'N GRAVY HAVE NARY A LUMP,
MAY YOUR YAMS BE DELICIOUS, MAY YOUR PIES TAKE THE PRIZE
...
and MAY YOUR THANKSGIVING DINNER STAY OFF OF YOUR THIGHS!

Happy Thanksgiving!
