Are You Ready for Some...Softball?

We had a very busy Saturday, full of softball, softball, and some more softball!! We had a one-day tournament with Delaney's travel team in Annison, which is about an hour and a half drive from our home. I had planned on going to the two first pool play games, then head back into town to take McKenna to an end-of-year band party and to attend some fun National Scrapbook Day events. But, as things would happen, McKenna decided to not go to the party (and instead hang out with her new boyfriend, which is a totally different story that I will have to tell you all about later... let's just say that he's 16, but seems very, very nice and I think she's a bit "smitten" with him). It was fine with me, though, because I hadn't been able to stay for an entire tournament in quite a while and I really enjoyed watching softball ALL day long!!

We started at 9 am, played two pool games (won them 12-0, 13-1); took a Cinco de Mayo break, came back as the #1 seed for tournament games and went undefeated the rest of the day (winning our last two 10-2 and 8-0). Our starting pitcher had a perfect game in the championshiop game; she didn't walk any and when they did hit, our awesome fielders caught or stopped the ball (our coach said it was the first time he'd been involved in a perfect game in travel ball). It was a really great day of softball, and Delaney played great! She played center field and second base all day and made some great plays at second. Here are a few more pics of the day...

The championship game was at 9 pm, so it was really too dark to get too many good action shots. But here they are celebrating with the first place trophy...

While Delaney played ball all day long, Sydney had the BEST time playing in this big, giant sand pit in the middle of the park. She literally played in it all day long with several friends of hers (sisters of girls on the team) and she couldn't have been happier! She didn't take a nap all day and was filthy when the day as over!

At the end of the day, they were still going strong...

Sunday was a beautiful day and we enjoyed a morning at church, an afternoon of lying around the house and watching some Braves on tv, then heading back up to church for a Fun Day with inflatables, games, and snacks (I jumped twice on the big jumpy-inflatable-slide and I think I'm feeling the wrath of it this morning; a 38-year-old back doesn't have the energy and stamina of a 10-year-old back, that's for sure! But if it's there--i.e., a mechanical bull, a trampoline, etc. LOL--you know I'm gonna try it!!)

I hope all of you had a wonderful weekend! I know that you scrappers all got to enjoy NSD more than me, but that's okay!! (Telah and Leah, I'm sorry I didn't get back with you about meeting up. I hate that we didn't get to hang out again!! But hope you had a good time down here in Bham!)

On tap this week?

One more week of softball with our park teams,
Mother's Day coming up (I'm going to create a few fun little mini books, that I hope work out well),
and getting ready for the writers conference that my parents and I do (I have more than 1000 newsletters to get sent out in the mail this week!).

Should be a good, good week!

Wow - Congrats on the Games... sounds like a good day - even without Scrapping! (Although - I am sure you have PLENTY to scrap about from that day - so it was still scrap-related!)

I did a mini for a Mother's Day Gift this weekend... great idea and so fun to do!

What kind of Writing Conference? Do you and your parents attend or lead it?!

Scrap Happy!
