I Can Feel that it's gonna be a Good Day...

Just a quick "pop in" to say hello and let you know a little something-something about what's going on in our side of the world.

Gary and I are heading off to the Brain Doctor (otherwise known as a nuerologist) for Gary to get an MRI done. Those of you who've been hanging around here for a while will remember that Gary has had three strokes over the last three years. His last--two mild ones--were back in February. He has a very pro-active neurologist who likes to keep checking in on him, which I am VERY grateful for. You know men, right? They'd just as soon go to a doctor as have a tooth pulled (well, that's not really a good comparison, since that involves another sort of doctor!) and Gary is no different. But he's been a very good patient since his last stroke and takes his Plavix everyday and goes to the doctor when he schedules his appointments.

So, we're hoping that everything will look just fine (and that Gary actually has a brain! LOL) and we're sure it will!

The fun news is that Gary and I are going to take the opportunity to do some Christmas shopping while we're out...and maybe get a little something to eat...and enjoy a day together! (We have absolutely NO time to go out on dates during the Fall. Between high school games on Friday night and then either Bama football games or softball tournaments on Saturday, it is just a busy time of year to go out.) I'm totally looking forward to having several hours all by myself with Gary.

So...just thinking about my sweetie today and how much I love and appreciate him for all he does. I was browsing around youtube and found one of "our" songs there and thought I'd share with you. This is totally an "old school" selection, and there are newer songs that make me think of our relationship, but this is one is particularly special to us. We danced to it at our wedding, and we both just love the "feel" of Van's voice and music. And, besides, it kinda makes feel like Autumn (even though the video has lots of summer images). It's just got that mood to it, for some reason.

Enjoy...

And enjoy your day!

ADDED ON: Hey guys and gals!!! Thanks for all the sweet comments and well wishes for Gary. He got a great report from the neurologist! His brain looked normal (or as "normal" as his can be...LOL; yes, he loves me!) and the neurologist was pleased with how he was taking care of himself. I'm praying that if he keeps taking his blood thinner and aspirin everyday, we may never have to deal with another stroke again. That would be a very GOOD thing! Also...we got a good buggy-full of Christmas presents bought today...enjoyed a lunch at Zaxby's together where we had sparkling adult conversation (well, it actually was kinda silly conversation...but there was no 3-year-old there telling us about her superpowers!)...and enjoyed each other's company (I threatened him with his life if we didn't do it again very soon!). So... everything turned out well and contineus to be so! See ya again soon!

Hi there Cheryl. My name is Jennic. It's my first visit here. I've added you to my RSS. Looking forward to reading you. I wish you a beautiful day together with your sweetheart. And I hope the MRI will have good results.

I'm a cancer survivor (in my 6th year remission). I was diagnosed at 24. Illnesses are no fun. Thank goodness I'm doing great now.

p.s. I love songs like these. I listen to Delilah and Hubby thinks it's strange. ;-)

Awww what a sweet, sweet post. I didn't know about Gary's strokes. Good thing his doc is proactive and Gary is a good patient. I'll be sending good vibes to y'all. Enjoy your day together sweetie!

Hey girl, your dh is going to be perfect. I feel good about it. Thanks for stopping by my blog, love your comments always. Anyway, so sweet that you left that incredible message about how much you love your guy....great thing that. When my hubby took me out to dinner the other night, I was sitting there enjoying everything and out of nowhere got these tears in my eyes, just because I knew how far we had been.... and how much I love and appreciate him. It's a good thing. Hugs

Awww. ya'll are so sweet. I LOVE when time permits for me and Marque to have some alone time.

I remember your posts about Gary's strokes. And I've actually wanted to ask about how he was doing. But certain things are just kinda awkward to bring up. So I'm really glad to see that things are going well and he's doing his follow ups.

By the way, I'm a Van Morrison fan too. My fav...by FAR, is "Have I told you lately?" LOVE it!!!

Ya'll have a GROOVY day!!!

I hope your day together is wonderful. My husband and I don't get out alone enough either, but we do take a Friday off in early December each year and spend it Christmas shopping, having lunch and we usually catch a movie. Enjoy!

What fun, a date day. I don't remember those. lol I wish I could even think about Christmas shopping. Not sure they'll be anything but homemade gifts this year, which I fully intend on starting on either Friday night or Saturday afternoon.

It is so refreshing to know of a man that does what he's supposed to as far as health is concerned. Mine ignores anything and everything anyone tells him, including his doctor, about health. MEN!

Hope you two had a lovely day!

Jacquie

ps. Pics from the Pirate Party are now up on my blog.

Hi Cheryl! My computer seems to be on the mend (It crashed and burned big time) so I spent a little time catching up on blogs today. I read your blog top to bottom. Wanted to catch up. How nice to have a day with Gary, and even nicer to have the appreciation for what a blessing that is, which you obviously do. I loved your halloween treats, and want your caramel corn recipe, and loved your share on the cancer challenges and the 16 yr. old heart attack!?!? Oh my gosh! I had no idea! Really puts things in perspective. And how fun to have a costume bunko night. I loved your three year old's musings about the beautiful beautiful day, too. And how nice to be invited to speak ... anywhere! That doesn't happen to me, but I think I would like it to. I laughed when I read that you ate the caramel syrup by the spoonsful, and I could relate when you said that your Thanksgiving was once like 78 degrees! We had a Christmas that was 80 something once! Nice to have cooler weather. And I LOVE LOVE LOVE the idea to list what you are thankful for, but I don't know how to make things show up on my side bar. Can you teach me? If you get a minute.
I hope that November brings you many happy moments.
Love! Wendy

Great news for Gary! My brother in law also suffers from something similar- mini strokes, and has to take medicine for it. I'm glad his neurologist monitors him regularly.

I thought about you today as I was out driving around town. I spotted someone with a MO license plate but had a license plate holder that said "Roll Tide" University of Alabama. I told my mother in law all about you. Hee hee..!!

I'm glad to hear that Gary is doing well. It was so hard to think of such a young man (I know ... he'll love that, 'cause we all think our age is "old"!!!) would be having such difficulties. Yay for your family!!!
