Operation Christmas Child

Busy, busy, BUSY day today....

Tonight is Delaney's middle school pageant, so I'm checking her out early; getting hair and makeup done; getting all dressed up and taking pictures; just LOTS of excitement going on with that (I will have pictures tomorrow, you know!). So, cross your fingers around 7:3o tonight that Delaney will feel confident and do her best!

In the meantime, I wanted to share another Holiday Tradition with all of you. The deadline for doing this one is coming up very soon, so I wanted to share it with you in case you wanted to add it to your family's activity list this season.

Every year, we pack up shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child. These boxes are sent around the world to third-world nations, where children otherwise would receive no Christmas gifts. It is an inter-denominational project and is just so rewarding to do. Plus, it's EASY! You just pack a shoebox full of items for a specific children's age-group you select. Toothbrush, gum, baby doll, pencils...you pack it with simple items that a child will enjoy. You can also add a personalized letter to the child, which is what my girls like to do.

Go to the Operation Christmas Child website to learn more about it! The site tells you how to pack a box, where the boxes go, and what a difference they can make in the lives of these children. While at the site, go HERE and find out where a drop-off location is in your area. (The collection date for most locations is Nov.19--next Monday--so this might be a project you and your family can do this weekend.)

I think we all know that Christmas is SO much more than getting gifts. It is about sharing our blessings, and sharing the joy that comes in knowing what Christmas is all about!

Now...go have a WONDERFUL Thursday!!! I'm off to have a prissy day with my daughter. It's gonna be fun....

Can't wait to see the pics.

We used to do the OCC, but haven't since we've been on the road. It's such a great thing when you imagine that kid out there that gets a present. Gotta get on it this year!

Thanks for the reminder.

Well good luck Delaney!!!! I hope you did well. Sounds like your life has been as busy as the rest of us. Christmas coming, Thanksgiving, Working, school, decorating, cooking, cleaning....whew I'm tired already. We already did our Shoe box last weekend. Man I did it all in record time. I shopped and put it together all in one day. I love doing that so much. Makes you feel so good inside. Have a great weekend. I hope Delaney won!!!!
