Weekend Catch-Up via Some Random Ramblings...

We had a really nice weekend. Several things stand out in my mind:

~ Our Friday night high school football game was VERY exciting! We played Hoover High School in the second round of the 6A state playoffs and knew it would be a very good game since the two of us were both 9-1. Hoover is the school from Alabama that was on MTV's Two-a-Days show, and they are a huge athletic program that plays its games in a minor-league baseball field here in town and sells its own line of athletic gear. We, on the other hand, are the smallest school in 6A. It was a bit like David vs. Goliath! We ended up losing by two points, 44-42, missing a field goal in the last three seconds. We had been behind 28-7 in the first quarter, but then made a gallant effort and came back with many big plays throughout the night! It was sad losing the game, but boy were we proud of our guys! And McKenna's color guard team with the band did great too (they also were tiny compared to Hoover's huge band, but they sounded and looked exceptional!). HERE'S a really good article about the game!

~ Delaney and I went with her Math Team to a Math Tournament on Saturday. There were a ton of kids there (I'm thinking around 400), but Delaney or her team didn't win anything (they awarded the top 10 individual performances and the top 5 teams in each grade). Still, they had a good time! It was held at the Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, so after doing their competition they were able to ride in simulator machines, look at cool rocket displays, watch an Imax movie, and even climb a rock wall. (I forgot my digital camera, so I only have pics from a disposablel camera I bought there. I hate that!) The next day I found out from one of the team coaches that Delaney scored the highest from our school, so that was good!

~ Alabama lost in a horribly embarrassing sort of way. So, college football is officially dead for me now!

~ My Dallas Cowboys gave me my only ray of sports sunshine all weekend long!

~ After doing a little bit of blog-surfing yesterday, I gotta share two mentions of me that appeared in Blog Land. The cool chick at Tip Junkie mentioned our favorite Thansgiving tradition, and also listed others that sound great! She also has wonderful tips on all sorts of topics, so it's a great place to visit. And then sweet Susie Q had some awesome pictures last week of her daughter and friends doing a "Cheryl Wray Endorsed" bed jumping event. That was too fun!

~ I am in the mood to do some room-cleaning. We got Delaney a new bedroom suit and worked on her room yesterday. I am going to re-do Sydney's room next (she refuses to sleep on top of her bunk bed, so I'm lowering it), and then McKenna needs to just give her room a cleaning overhaul! Christmas is coming and there needs to be room for the new stuff from Santa! :-)

~ The girls are out of school ALL week for Thanksgiving, which we are extremely excited about!! We usually get out just three days, but we got all week this year! So...we are sleeping late, will do some Christmas shopping, and I will bake. That sounds like a good week to me!

Cheryl, I had already read your blog before you posted on Gary's. I knew I had to find out the info somehwere, so where else than here. I had really hope to see Hueytown go all the way this year. It has been many years for them and they are due. Hoover played Union HS here in Tulsa last year, and I hoot and hollered them all the way to WHIP Union. Union - Redskins, (same colors and all). So you know I had to go against them. Hoover over powered them, it was fantastic. At least our Cowboys did a great job. We ARE LOOKING FOR THE 6TH FINGER RING...... GO COWBOYS!!!!!

Aww...I have officially bought my youngest daughter her last new bedroom a couple of years ago. Yea.....she's almost 18 and it's up to her now...not that we wouldn't help a little, but at some point, I gotta let go. Anyway, sorry about Alabama, but, the cowboys did pull it through for you. Have a beautiful day

Oh and what a great job you all did on Friday night...my heart sunk when I heard the score on the blitz...I was hoping you all would beat the bucs!

Half of our schools around here are off the entire week and half are not. My kids go to the schools that are not!

Not sure what I'll be bringing on Thursday. I'm thinking some fun pumpkin dessert, but not sure what. May have to go looking myself.

Hope you and yours have a wonderful Turkey day!
