Just Some Quick Random "What I'm Doing"s...
New Year's Eve plans ...
and some Funny-ness
I don't think that's even a word ("funny-ness") but you get the idea, huh? I'll get to the funny-ness in a minute, but first...
How is your week going? Mine has actually been pretty low-key. I've gotten all of my Christmas shopping finished and we haven't had any "official" Christmas activities this week, so I've just been busy doing normal things here and there.
I've been working on two gift albums, and also doing some editing. I also finally came up with a great idea for my annual Christmas letter and am trying to finish it up today! I sent off contracts to two writing conferences I'll be speaking at this coming summer. McKenna broke up with her boyfriend (it lasted longer than I really expected; she is the bossiest 15-year-old I know and she completely man-handles her boyfriends! lol). And, Gary's been working a lot so we haven't spent too much time together.
This morning I did tell Gary that I needed him to finish wrapping my gifts. I know he has more of them; I saw him lug them into the house. But they aren't all wrapped yet! I NEED to have more to shake! (I'm weird...I love to shake my gifts as often as possible! I'm kinda like a kid that way!)
Gary DID, though, make my week when he announced what we'd be doing for New Year's Eve. For a while, we hosted New Year's Eve parties with a group of friends and that was always a lot of fun. Two years ago, we spent New Year's Eve and Day in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, with friends. But this last year and for several years before, we haven't done much of anything to celebrate. We've still had good times, but they've been very low-key. We'd hang out at the house and play games with the kids, then go outside and do some fireworks at midnight. This year, though, I'd been talking about how nice it would be to do something "adult" for New Year's Eve. You know? Go out to dinner, or go dancing, or anything really that would be something different and special.
So Gary called me a few days ago and said that he'd bought us tickets for THIS!! I am SO excited!!!!!
I have heard rave reviews of TSO's shows, so not only am I excited that Gary and I will have a "real" New Year's Eve date...but that it will be for something so fun!
We are now trying to figure out what yummy restaurant we want to eat at beforehand. And I've been thinking of what I need to get to wear. We need to make it a full night after-all, don't we? I can't wait!!
(Here is a "live" video of one of their songs that I really like:
And then...how about that "funny-ness" that I promised?
I am a huge "Will and Grace" fan. It never ceases to officially crack me up, and I saw this one the other day and it just got me in the Christmas spirit in a totally wacky way! I'm still laughing as I post it! (and, you know?, if you ever need a happy smile or something to lift your mood...go to youtube and just search for scenes from your favorite sitcoms. I seriously did this the other day and watched scenes from "WKRP in Cincinnati" and "The Carol Burnett Show" and "Family Ties." Totally made my day!)
So, enjoy this one!
Now... have a SUPER DUPER day! Talk to you all again soon!!

OMG that is hilarious. I love Will and Grace and haven't seen that episode. But that was just the funniest. McKenna and her boyfriend...hmmm...that's OK, she will get another one and another one and another one. And not settle for just one anytime too soon. The bossiness is good in a way...she won't let any guy step on her. LOL Have a great day and thanks for the funny.
LOVE TSO too.....but oh my gosh all those lights for almost 2 hrs---not good for seizure patients *hehehe......that should be so much fun! ENJOY!
You and Gary are my ideal couple. I hope you have a FABU NY Eve!
I'm extremely jealous of your New Year's Eve plans. {smile}
Looks like you're going to have a very cool New Years! Yay!
Today is great. It's snowing at a pretty good clip right now and has been for about 20 minutes so far after about an hour of sleet/ice/freezing rain (something unpleassant). I can already see it accumulating on the rooftops on the buildings around the office. I'm so going skating at lunch. I'll have pictures up tonight or tomorrow morning too. :)
Not much else going on. Shopping is done for everyone I had to send presents too, the cards went into the mail today. And everything else is going along the status quo.
That's going to be great for New Year's,you're going to enjoy it! Believe me!
We've been debating on whether on not to go see TSO too. I'm holding out to try and win tickets though, LOL. I know y'all will have a great time.
Linda-- Don't you just LOVE those characters? It's an easy laugh when I watch that show! I do have VERY strong daughters, which can be a bad thing when she's bossing people around but it is a VERY GOOD thing also because she knows who she is and where she stands and she does not let people sway her. And, yep, she'll have another one before long. LOL
Candlegirl--Good tosee you back here!! Yeah, the lights are pretty intense!
Patti--You're too sweet! I can't wait!
Gin--Sorry...:-)
Jeff--Wow!!! It's 80 degrees here again, although the weather guy said there might be a chance for flurries on Sunday. CRAZY weather!!
Alivewithpassion--I'm SO excited. Have you been to a TSO show?
Mandy--I know what you mean! The tickets were kinda steep, but I let Gary treat me! :-)
Glad that you have everything done!!! Hehehehhe about shaking your presents ~ you're too funny!!!!
OMG lucky girl ~ I hear that the TSOrchestra concerts are amazing!!!! I can't wait to hear all about it :) Your hubby is great!
LOVE that Will & Grace episode...totally made me laugh :D I really miss that show!!!!!
Omg..I *heart* will & grace. I usually watch the reruns on lifetime before I go to bed.
I rememeber watching WKRP in Cincinnati with my dad. My dad and aunts have been patiently waiting for it to come out on DVD but I heard there is a lot of music licensing so its not going to happen anytime soon.
and YAY for New Years Eve plans. I heard TSO is fantastic.
Loved both of the videos!!!
I am soooo behind on your blog. You are my hero, posting just about every single day. :)
Your New Years Eve plans sound so fun! I actually haven't even been awake to bring in the new year in several years! How sad is that? I don't really forsee staying up for this one either, especially if hubby is scheduled to work the next day!
Sounds like a wonderful New years'.
God bless you and Merry Christmas!
Thanks for the laugh and can I please go with you on New Years Eve?
Danielle--I LOVE shaking my presents. I swear I'm like a little kid with gifts!! Gary IS a sweetie!
Josie--I often go to bed with W&G on too!! :-)
Anon--Thanks!!
Leah--It's just weird! I have gotten SO used to blogging everyday that it seems like a normal part of my day. I really think it's the writer in me! That's funny about NY Eve. I'm a night owl, so it's not hard for me to stay awake!
Songbird--You're so sweet! Ihope you and your family also have a blessed Christmas!
Detta--Ha!! Sure, come on and join us! :-) (Although you'll have to steal one of our tickets!)
Cheryl? Is that YOU?
YOU have had a low key week? What's up with THAT? :-)
How fun that you and Gary get to go on a date. Marque and I will be on an all day date tomorrow. He's taking the day off so we can START & FINISH our Christmas shopping :-). Then we're going out to dinner for our anniversary tomorrow night. Can't wait!!!
I LOVE episodes from my favorite shows. And Carol Burnett is one of my ALL time favs. We're gonna try and find ALL of the shows on DVD.
Have a great weekend, my friend.
Fir NY's Eve, are you taking a big purse or a clutch?
I totally think I could fit in it if you leave the clutch at home!!!!!!!!
Awesome New Year's Eve you will have!!! This looks like a spectacular show! Hope you guys get to enjoy it to the MAX!
Pretty low key around here, too... just trying to get back into the swing of things.
Thank you so much for your prayers, again... really appreciated them!
I LOVE Will and Grace!! OH that concert looks like it will be so much fun. YAY to Gary for planning it for you.
Very funny. "Instead of baby Jesus, we have a plate of cheeses."
