Valentine Rewind

Well, it was a most excellent Valentine's Day yesterday.

Gary and I had a lunch date;
I got homemade cards from Sydney;
I got some beautiful flowers;
we had a picnic while watching "Lost";
we all ate WAY too much;
and I felt really loved!

Thought I''d share a couple of pictures from the day, like this one of Sydney yesterday morning with her little basket of goodies . . .

Gary and I ate lunch at Olive Garden. We took this picture using our self-timer on the camera. We look a little wind-tossed, but I still think it's pretty cute (I guess we should have asked our waiter to take our picture, but we were too engrossed with our food)...

Like this ...

(We also ate a TON of salad and--our personal favorite--the bread dipped in olive oil and parmesan cheese. We could live off that stuff!)

My beautiful flowers...

The roses that Gary got for the girls...

Then, later at night back at home, we had a fun little picnic in the den with wine, sparkling grape juice, strawberry muffins, and chocolate-covered strawberries (yumm-o). . .

By the end of the night, we were looking kinda rough. lol (And, yep, that's "Lost" on the tv in the background. What an episode!! Can Sayid possibly get any MORE gorgeous??) . . .

And, oh my goodness, Delaney came home with a big giant stuffed dog from her "boyfriend" (of course, "boyfriends" at this age aren't really that bad since all they do is send messages to each other via other friends and they don't really go anywhere. Although there is a dance next week at the school. Hmm, I'm gonna have to think about that one.) She was very excited . . .

McKenna is boyfriend-less right now, which is really fine since this week she has been busy every afternoon and evening with tryout clinic for the color guard squad this next year. She has her tryouts this afternoon to be a "Golden Girl" again (she was on it this past year, I'm sure you all remember), so that's what we'll be anticipating today.

Also today, we will be packing and getting ready to go to our Family Life Retreat with our church friends. It's one of our very favorite weekends of the year...at one of our favorite places (a gorgeous mountain, outdoor setting)....with some of our favorite people (great friends)....with some of the most fun (game night, talking around the fireplace, crazy skit show!).

I hope you all had a great day yesterday and that you are anticipating a good weekend ahead. Stay safe, have fun, and I'll see you soon!

I think the most important thing about Valentine's Day is about showing people that you love them and receiving their love back. Whether it's with family or friends.

I love the picnic idea!
