And this would be how I celebrate...

Since Saturday--because of a tooth in the back of my mouth that had chipped off and was subsequently rubbing...no, "stabbing"...my tongue and making it basically impossible to chew and swallow--I had eaten a grand total of these items: one bowl of egg drop soup, one bowl of broccoli cheese soup, four large glasses of sweet tea (with a straw), and four large glasses of Diet Dr. Pepper (with a straw).

After a successful dentist appointment yesterday, I decided to celebrate by eating a few of my favorite things. I think I might have gone a little bit overboard (I just hope I didn't gain back the 5-7 pounds that I hope I lost on the previous "slurping only two bowls of soup and a lot of drinks in five days diet"), but what will be will be.

Immediately after coming home from the dentist, a trip for burritos and enchiladas was in order. (I had been craving Mexican food since the weekend!). Yummm....

A trip to our local Publix grocery store revealed that they have these things similar to Dippin Dots. So that was a pre-dinner snack....

One thing I had seriously missed was getting to enjoy any of the wine that we bought this last weekend on our anniversary trip. So, I opened me up a bottle and had a glass of this Carlos wine. It is sweet and delicious...

I also did make supper, but I failed to take a picture of it (but for your records, it was buffalo wings, french fries, and biscuits. Yumm again!)

But the REAL highlight of this day of eating was the following item...

Fried Twinkies!!

I had these on my mind since at least Saturday (I really have no idea WHY, but I did). And so late last night (like at a little before midnight), I made a batch of these things and they are totally DIVINE...

Just look at that creme filling oozing out...

Seriously, if you like a Twinkie you will LOVE these things. And if you don't like Twinkies, you will LOVE these things!!

The best line of the day was when Delaney asked me, "Are we going to celebrate the next time you go to the dentist?"

My reply was, "Absolutely!"

There is ALWAYS a reason to celebrate with food! (And, I have to go back in about three weeks to have a crown put in...and that will absolutely deserve a celebration...or a shopping spree, not sure which!)

Fried twinkies? My word! My heart just about had an arrest, but my mouth was watering. :) I'm so glad for your celebration! I have the worst teeth known to man, so I hear you on the dental complaint. I have more crowns than the Queen. Mine are probably more expensive, too.

Cheryl, I heart that you love Mexican food as much as I do. I went out to lunch with a friend yesterday and exhibited no self control whatsoever. Chips and salsa AND beans and cheese. Plus a burrito which probably tipped the scales at over 1/2 a pound. Let's just say, I had to have a few TUMS, but it was worth every burp. xxxooogretchen

p.s. I have changed my URL. Please update and come see me.

How have I lived in the south my entire life and never heard of a fried twinkie?? It looks delicious! Is it as simple as just frying it in some oil and then adding powdered sugar? Please do tell! :)

Oh, one more thing, you never did tell me how the cake plates ya'll borrowed for McKenna's B-day worked out...details!!
