THIS is how old I'm getting...

I stopped by Walmart after my dental appointment yesterday afternoon and when I left and headed out to the parking lot, I seriously could not find my car!

I even closed my eyes and tried to envision where I had entered the doors. I could have sworn I entered from one direction, but when I had walked up and down every lane on that side of the store I realized either (1) Some crazed lunatic had stolen my secondhand car (the one I usually drive is in the shop) or (2) I was wrong.

So off I went (ice cream to go with Delaney's birthday cake melting as I walked) in the other direction to walk up and down every lane to see if my car could possibly be on that side of the parking lot. And, yep, there it was...in a location I totally did NOT remember parking in. It's like a total blank in my mind on how it got there!

I know I posted yesterday about the big 4-0 coming up soon, but really? is this what it's gonna look like? Me walking delusionally through the Walmart parking lot, losing my car?

(and yeah, I have pictures of Delaney's cake. They did a great job on it. But it's late...1 AM...and I'm sleepy! So I will say "Toodles" for now, but pop back on with pictures later on this morning!)

That has nothing at all to do with 40 and everything to do with Wal-Mart playing mind games with you

I couldn't find my car at WalMart one time. Well, more than one time, but this particular time I walked up and down and up and down. Finally I realized it just was not there and I was headed in to tell security my car had been stolen when I remembered it was in the shop and I had a rental car. Thank you, Jesus, for the reminder BEFORE I called the cops!

It has to do with not paying attention when you park your car - if you have other things on your mind when you're parking and not making a mental note of where it is before you walk away - that's all! You've just got a lot on your mind! I also have been known to use the "panic" button on my car when I can't find it - it beeps loudly and lets you know where it is!! :D My 40s were wonderful! So enjoy them...you're a pup!! ~Cathy

P.S. I must clarify: the panic button is on your key chain - ya know, the $100 key chain that unlocks/locks the car doors, too... ~Cathy

One time my DH was using my van, so I took his Jeep to the store. I forgot that that was what I drove... and was FREAKING OUT when I couldn't find my van. LOL The hilarious thing was that I remembered where I parked, but couldn't find the van. I was standing next to the Jeep while freaking out. In my defense he had just bought the Jeep. LOL

THE TRICK AT WALMART IS TO ALWAYS PARK IN THE SAME GENERAL AREA. JUST HAVE TO REMEMBER WHAT CAR YOUR IN AND WHICH AREA YOU HAVE CHOSEN TO BE YOUR DESIGNATED PARKING AREA.

READ SOMETHING TODAY ABOUT AGE. YOU KNOW YOUR OLD WHEN YOU GO OUT TO EAT AND THEY MAKE YOU PAY THE BILL FIRST.

You guys are SO funny!!!!! You are all making me realize that I'm not the only one who has done this! LOL

And, yes, I think that Walmart may be the Ultimate Evil anyway, so I can see them playing mind games on us all.

And, Cathy, I have one of those "panic buttons" (that is exactly what it is, by the way!!)on my car that's in the shop but not on the one I was driving. Too old!!! lol

The jeep story is hilarious, and Momnesia definitely is real!!!!

When I was a kid, one of my neighbors had a red (fake) carnation to her antennae

I asked her why and she said that it helped her find her car.

I have been tempted many times, but I just feel that would be giving in, and I NEVER do that lol.

oh this is so funny! I don't think it has anything to do with age either. I do it all the time! you know what's worse? When you walk up to someone elses car and swear it's yours and FREAK OUT when the key doesn't work. Yeah, i did that. I can't help it. There's a million and one gray Honda Accords in this world!

I can so relate. When we were in Minneapolis recently, Randey and I went into the giant Ikea store. We browsed around for a bit, got lost inside the store a couple of times (THAT part didn't disturb me, though. It's a BIG store!). When we came out, we walked all over the parking lot and couldn't find our car. After about 10 minutes, it finally dawned on us that we were facing the wrong direction and therefore, were on the wrong side of the store. Who knew they had parking on BOTH sides, just like a mall??? Sure glad we didn't call the police and report our car stolen. lol
