Chocolately Goodness & the Jonas Brothers

I've said it before and I'll say it again. If I am ever elected President of the United States, my first official action will be to ban late-night advertisements for restaurants that are not open at that hour. (What is the point of showing me Red Lobster's lobster feast if I cannot run right then and get some lobster at midnight?)

Imagine, then, how distraught I was when I saw a Pizza Hut commercial for these new things called Chocolate Dunkers the night before last while I watched the late-night Olympics recap on tv, and realized that I would have to wait until the next day to purchase them.

But purchase them I did! After church last night, we went and got two big to-go boxes of these things. McKenna, Delaney, Sydney and I ate an ENTIRE box in world record time (a new Olympic event, perhaps?) and then I munched on the second box throughout the evening.

Considering the fact that just earlier in the day I had wiggled my thighs and stared at the sad state of my tummy and declared that I MUST lose a few pounds and get in better shape (I have just over a week until my 40th birthday and I am not getting any younger or skinnier)....buying (and then consuming) this yummy, chocolatey goodness probably wasn't the best decision in the world. But, they were VERY. VERY. GOOD.

And now for a total change of topic...

On our way to Vicksburg this past weekend, Gary and I decided that we needed to make a quick Walmart-run to get a good CD to listen to in the car for the rest of the trip. And I already knew which one I would be buying.

(Isn't it nice to know that "Tiger Beat" magazine is still going strong with its wonderful "teen crush" posters? Keep reading below to see a retro look at the magazine!)

Yep, the Jonas Brothers are the greatest craze among preteen and teenager girls since sliced bread (or at least Nsync!); they cause all sorts of squealish, "He's sooooo cute!"s among girls of all ages...and I have to admit that even I (almost 40-year-old me) have not escaped the allure of the Jo Bros (as I like to call them!).

I have really enjoyed the CD (and especially enjoyed calling Delaney to let her know that I'd bought it for myself and that I'd already listened through it several times, and she couldn't listen to it until I got home from our trip. LOl), and even Gary bopped along a little bit on the road (although I think he preferred the new Kid Rock Cd we got as well!).

They are actually very talented; they all play the guitar, and write their own music. And they also seem to be pretty good guys. And, yes, they are sorta easy on the eyes. (I prefer Joe, the middle brother, and Sydney apparently does as well. The other day we were watching "Camp Rock" on the Disney Channel--Joe Jonas stars and sings in it--and Sydney announced that she was going upstairs to lie down, "so I can just think about Joe." Sheesh; a four-year-old Jonas Brothers stalker!)

In case you live under a rock (or without preteens--or way-too-wise-for-their-age four year olds-- in your house), here they are on the latest cover of Rolling Stone...

and here is a link to their super fun latest song (a really perfect Summer pop song!)...

"Burning Up" song video.

As I've listened to the CD numerous times over the last several days, I tried to recall what "teen idol" singers and bands were popular when I was Delaney's age (who, really, is the biggest Jonas Brothers fan in the house).

When I was twelve-years-old, I totally loved this guy...

Ahhh...Shaun Cassidy...remember him?

He played Joe Hardy on the Hardy Boys Show that year and I loved his song, "Da doo run run run, da doo run run" (a classic, huh?). Yes, he was officially "dreamy."

I had a poster of him on my wall, and even pretended like my pillow was him as I practiced kissing on it. (I think I should be totally ashamed to admit that!).

As I write this LATE on Wednesday evening, I'm off to bed, where I will dream sweet dreams of the Jonas Brothers and Shaun Cassidy (wait...I'll only be dreaming of Shaun, who is certainly close to 50 now and not Joe Jonas, who is at best 20. Yikes! I'm getting old!). But first I'm gonna grab me another one of those chocolate dunkers. Because, once you've already eaten six of them, one more can't kill ya (right?).

Too funny...those chocolate dunkers look great...but they are NOT on my diet. So I may have to save that idea for a treat down the road.....way down the road. LOL! My oldest daughter Ally love the Jo Brothers too...I was in love with Joe McIntyre from the New Kids on the Block...I was suppose to marry him and have his kids...ha ha..hope you have a great day!

you should be ashamed of yourself....

I took 4 of those sticks with me today so you probably have a lot less of them than you think! LOL

I may or may not try the chocolate dunkers. I can usually pass by that kind of stuff for some reason.

I have never heard the Jonas Brothers music. I wouldn't know them unless their name was plastered by their faces! I am only familiar with their name I don't even know their individual names. I imagine that will change as Madison gets older!

My first "love" was Andy Gibb. My brother took me to see him when I was 13.

Kimberly--They were good, but I feel a little bit guilty this morning. LOL I was just a little bit past the New Kids on the Block, but I know how much the gals loved them!!:-)

Adrienne--They are!!

G--yes, I see that you took some with you this morning. Meanie!

Patti--

Mmmm...Andy Gibb... yes, he was such a cutie pie. I always loved the Bee Gees also.

Even though the Jonas Bros are for the younger crowd, you might actually like them too.

I've wondered about the chocolate dunkers, but not enough to go get some (Pizza Hut is one of the few well-known fast foods in this area). Now you've done it! I hold you directly and personally responsible for the fact that when I am in town, I will buy some! Your fault!

I am SO over-the-hill! Even Shaun Cassidy sounds kidsy to me! Now, Andy Gibb .... at least I don't feel like a dirty old woman when I consider him! LOL! I guess I have to admit that it was Elvis for me with Ricky Nelson as a back up.

OK, I have to go take my Geritol now! (And how many readers won't know about Geritol, either?? LOL!!)
