A Week in the Life...
Day by Day...

Creative people all over blogland participated last week in a project called "A Week in the Life," originated by the ever-inspiring Ali Edwards. The idea was to document your normal, everyday life in photos...and to write about all that "average" stuff that goes on in those pictures. And beyond that, you document your photos and your experiences in some sort of creative fashion (typically, in an album of some sort).

(Go HERE to read all about the cool project!)

Well, in typical Cheryl Fashion, I'm grabbing hold of this idea just a little bit late. But, someone famous (not sure who!) once said, "Better late than never! So, I'm going to be doing my "A Week in the Life" this week.

Each evening, I will upload my photos and thoughts from each day. And I'm really looking forward to it!

I will be doing it from Monday through Sunday.

If you feel so inclined, why don't you join with me? I think it sounds like a really creatively-freeing activity and, besides, I love to peek in on other people's lives (LOL). And, additionally, you can be fashionably late on the project...just like me!

So...those are my plans for my blog this upcoming week. I hope to see you here during that time!

And now, how about a few thoughts from this weekend?

~ After getting the great news about my friend Debby on Friday afternoon(read the previous post to read all about it!), I was in one of those "skipping-around-lighthearted-and-happy" moods. I cooked supper, sang and danced in the kitchen to my favorite Abba CD, and just felt good about life!

~ My greatest college football allegience is, of course, to Alabama. But the team that is second in my heart...Texas...won big this weekend. Since Bama had the bye week, I celebrated with the Longhorns instead (they beat #1 Oklahoma!) And, do you know? I pretty much lazed around and watched football all Saturday long; it was NICE!.

~ I am almost done with Water for Elephants and it is SO good!

~ I am working on a book about writing (right now, scheduled to come out in June 09) and I actually got my chapters laid out and started working on the introduction.

~ I almost finished up two albums from Delaney's World Series. (Since this was back in July, it's about time, huh?)

~ But the best time was...

our Backyard Camp out.

Sydney announced to Gary last Thursday that we needed to lie on the ground and watch the stars "and those stars that make shapes up in the sky." He said, why don't we take it a step further? Let's get a tent and have a camp out in the backyard? Sydney was all over that idea, and she actually slept all night in the tent (Gary did too...although I was back inside by midnight!).

I did, though, enjoy Smores (Is there much of anything better than those?) and scary stories with them (Sydney's told an impromptu story about a skeleton, complete with flashlight under her face; it was too cute!)...

I hope you all had a great weekend!!

See you this week...for my "A Week in the Life."

campout looks funs! You can't have one without s'mores though and those looked SOOOOOOO good. We used to make them in our microwave and when they would explode make a mess and our parents would be SO mad.

So, Texas #1 does that make you made they leapfrogged Bama?

Leah--I am excited about it. You should try it too!

Marg--You're welcome. :-)

Phats--MMMMM, smores!!!! I LOVE them! They were incredibly good! (About Bama...I am FINE with Texas leapfrogging them. I actually think Texas deserved the jump after that great win. And, besides, I'm not sure I want Bama #1. 2 is good. We gotta keep winning, one way or the other, anyway!)

Adriann--The campout was fun!!! I'm excited about doing it too, and seeing what I come up with.

I hope you weren't drinking during that 'camp out' adventure otherwise it may well have scared you some if during the middle of the night you had forgotten about the tent and got up to go to the toilet or to the kitchen, looked through the window and saw a brightly lit psychedelic blue and orange shaped alien spacecraft with two 'odd looking creatures' moving about within it. I somehow don't think The American UFO Society would have appreciated a middle of the night telephone call saying that you've found aliens camping in your back garden!!! :-D

That backyard campout...looks so inviting, the smores, the tent, the light....oh so dreamy. Very nice!

I thought about doing the project, but then figured every day would be the same! LOL!

The campout in the backyard looks like it was FUN! And who can resist smores?

Of course, I would have been back in the house like you! LOL!

Congrats on your book!

First of all, can I wait until next week to do "a week in the life"? Secondly, can I get one of the first copies of your book? Will it be something like "Bird by Bird"? And will you sign my copy?

Okay, so I just went back and read your edited post of Friday. What a wonderful piece of news. I will do both of the things Debby has asked, I'll raise a glass and praise the Lord.

Have you seen the You Tube clip from the Ellen show with the little old lady from Texas who says, "I love Jesus, but I drink a little"? It is hysterical.

YUM! Smores! one of my favorite things to do when I was little was to go camping...it's been too long since I last went.

Hey everyone!!

Pam, I wanted to respond to your comment by itself first...

Nope, my writing book won't be anything as fun or enlightening as Bird by Bird. :-) The book is actually going to be a practical "here's how to market your writing" book. It's going to be part of a series I'm developing (sort of a "writing for dummies" sort of series). I really do want to write a book of essays, though, and have an idea bubbling around in my mind that I hope to get to after this project. You are SO sweet and, of course you can get a signed copy if you really want it. LOL

Kingc--You are TOO much!!! LOL!!!

Cinni--The campout WAS great!! Well, I tackled the pictures today. I hope I can make it through an entire week.

Adrienne--It was!

Songbird--The smores were delicious!!

Queen--I hope you enjoy it. It might just be a "look at how boring my life is" experiment. :-)

Kathy--LOL That's kind of how I'm feeling about it too. The pictures may be mostly of me washing clothes, working on the computer, taking the kids to school...repeat and repeat again!

Travis--As long as we're #1 at the end of the year!

Pam--I answered your question about my book in the comment above this one!

Kat--You need to make smores very soon!! :-)

Gin--I hope it turns out well.

I've considered several times about doing a backyard camp shin-dig, but visions of possums detered all of that...lol

I'm loving this. I need to do this! Of course, a big chunk of my week is my boring work! I noticed i really loved the food pics; pancakes, smores, McDonald's . . . you get the picture!
