It's a Busy, busy Thursday
(as always.)
Going on right now...
~ Watched a dress rehearsal yesterday for Delaney's middle school play (which will be tonight). It's called "Big Bad" and tells the story of the Big Bad Wolf on trial (with characters like Little Red Riding Hood and the Three Little Pigs making appearances.) Delaney plays the Defense Attorney. It's too cute.
~ "Lost" was All Sorts of Awesome Awesomeness last night! The Widmore reveal was great, but the best moment of the night was learning Des and Penny's son was named Charlie. I teared up on that one.
~ Sad abut the news that one of my favorite older members of our church passed away yesterday. He was the one who always greeted you with a kiss on the cheek and a sincere, "It's so good to see you." We need more of those folks in the world.
~ Finished reading Me Talk Pretty One Day by David Sedaris last night. I just discovered Sedaris, even though I'd heard people rave about him in the past. His are books of essays that are funny and sardonic at the same time. And his writing is top-notch.
~ As it's almost the beginning of the month (and payday!), I've been thinking of my upcoming grocery shopping trip. I'm wanting to try some new meals, and these have caught my eye: this Ranch Style Chicken, and this Slow Cooker Taco Soup, and these Ham & Cheese Rolls (I think those will be my Super Bowl-day goodies). (I'm also tackling a cake tomorrow for Gary's grandmother's birthday; the plan is for it to be in the shape of an "8" and a "0." We'll see how that goes!)
~ Really loving Facebook. I've connected with some people I haven't seen in ages (a former college minister! a friend from junior high!), and it's a great way to stay in touch with friends today. (And my friend Ingrid's post yesterday of "25 Random Facts" about herself, made me think of Tiramisu. I think I'm gonna try this recipe for it soon. Yep, it always all comes back to food. I won't deny it.)
~ Really wanting to get some scrapbooking done. I have the makings of four or five layouts sitting on my dining room table right now, but that's really all they're doing. Sitting there. I also want to make a little mini book with all my Christmas pictures from this year in it.
~ Trying to nip Procrastination in the bud. I've got a book manuscript due very soon, and I've still got a ways to go on it. I may have to hole myself away in the next two weeks, giving up blogs and Facebook and "Lost" and scrapbooking and cakes and all manners of sports while I finish it... but, gosh, I hope not!
~ I want a Starbucks mocha frappacino right now. (And a flat screen tv.) Just saying.

You are the busiest chicka I know. You accomplish sooo much.
I'm off to a whole weekend of scrapbooking come Friday. I have spent the morning packing up. I plan to make cards one night/morning and scrapbook the rest of the time.
Then it will be home to Superbowl. So, who are you rooting for? I bet NOT Pittsburgh. We must, of course, being Pennsylvania natives.
I really loved this post. Hope you don't have to take a sabbatical, but understand if you do. I would miss you terribly.
~hippo hugs~
You know, if you need time away, you simply do, and that isn't a big deal. You'll be missed, but so what! Do what you must. :)
I'm enjoying facebook, too. I haven't found many "old" friends. [chuckle] I think my old friends are too old to much beyond email! But I love the ease of convenience for quick contact with those friends and family with whom I have connected. Maybe some of the others will get aboard eventually.
Forgot to say that I saw that Ranch Chicken recipe, too, and I'm planning that for Sunday. Yum! And don't you wish she'd get back to the love story??
Pam--I am SO jealous that you get to scrapbook this weekend! I wish I could just fly on up there and join you!!! :-) Actually, as a Cowboys fan, I am usually anti-Pittsburgh. But I'm also finding it hard to cheer for Arizona; they're just a "weird" team to have in the SB, don't ya think? Still, I like Kurt Warner. Let's just say that I hope it's a good game! I hate it when the games aren't exciting!
Lynilu--I'm hoping I won't have to take a "sabbatical," but if I do I know it won't be for long. Mmmm, I'm gonna try the Ranch Chicken soon too. It looks SO good!! (And, yes, I'm ready for more of that story!)
Yep those buy little beavers got nothing on you.
You are busy, for sure. I'll take a Starbucks 2.
Cheryl,
I really like Kurt Warner too. I'll be glad whoever wins and I will chuckle at the commercials.
~hippo hugs~
He he he! You crack me up...I love a Starbucks with you...and that TV...and to scrap. I am still holding out on the Facebook think, I can see me either getting addicted or stressing out that I have to post.
Travis--LOL (And it's SO good to see you here. Been praying that you and family are ok!)
Gin--I seriously need a Starbucks.
Pam--That's sorta how I feel about it too.
Mimi--Well, I try to not go onto Facebook to often because it CAN suck you dry and you spend way too much time on it. :-)
I haven't eaten the forbidden fruit of the Facebook Vine yet. But it's a matter of time.
I'd like a flat screen TV for my bedroom, and a starbucks at any time pleases my palate.
I think it's January, but the procrastination bug has bitten me...ugh.
Hope Delaney's play goes well.
Enjoy the Super Bowl. I know how hard it is for you to like football, but do it for the family. ;0)
hey chicky! so happy to see you on facebook! IM so behind on everyones blogs I feel like i see you more now lol.
sorry to hear about your church members passing.
happy to hear you have layouts on the table though!!
I have to come back up your way here soon to the MS clinic again :( in the spring maybe I can swing by to see everyone.
I HOPE to get by the ss again.
for HUGS!
NOT SURE yet on the date think it will be in may.
I have to make soup sunday because Bella is convinced we are having a soup party. we told her it was the super bowl and she thinks we are having company over for soup. we tried to explain but she aint buyin it.. oh well.
I'm so glad you liked "Me Talk Pretty One Day." Sedaris is awesome. You've got to get "Holidays On Ice." It's sometimes hard to find outside the holiday season, but it will have you rolling on the floor with laughter.
Cheryl, I agree with Jeff about "Holidays on Ice."
Also, if you want to ship some Tiramisu my way, that would be great. :)
You remind me of my friend Audrey who is always busy, like you. When I call her and get her voice mail, I simply say, "Beep Beep!" as I have a vision of her roaring around like the Road Runner.
Have a great Super Bowl Sunday - we have 30 people coming over. Hopefully I will get around to blogging about it. xox
