I am totally making these for Valentine's Day...

I can't say I came up with these on my own. I am stealing the idea from Bakerella, my favorite food blogger (mostly about cakes and cupcakes and assorted, cute desserts) on the planet. They are red velvet cake sandwiches, and will totally rock the red & white necessary for celebrating Valentine's Day. I'm also tempted to make the little mini chocolate heart versions she has on her site too. (I'm thinking I'll be probably end up doing them both!)

In addition to those sweet treats, my Valentine's Day will include...

* Dinner out with Gary. I'm really thinking that I want Italian.
* Valentine's Day party with my Sunday School class. We're gonna have a Chocolate Table and other fun stuff...but right now I can pretty much only think of that table.
* Assorted cute stuffed animals for the girls. Pink and red ones need only apply.
* Boxed Valentine's Day cards. (Sydney's been talking about them for a while.)
* Lots of hugs and kisses (and some conversation hearts. Love those things.).

What do you like about Valentine's Day? (If you don't like it...cause I know some people don't...fess up here, but then get over it!) Got any fun plans?

(Consider those your Random Tuesday questions. Share here, post on your own blog.)

I {heart} you all!

I'm really getting excited about our valentines plans despite a small blip on Sunday!

those look so yummy!!!! and heart you back girl..you rock. What I love most about Valentines Day are making cards for it. They are so cute and fun to make. I love the colors of the day, I love the chocolates, the date nights, the anticipation of who is going to get flowers at work, and who is getting a Valentine Dinner. My ex didn't ever take me out or send flowers (at least not for the last umteen years) but I love watching everyone else have so much fun with the day. Plus, the girls at my work are so great, we all make cards and pass around little goodies...it's fun. Heart you back.

Queen--I think I missed my calling. I should be a baker/cupcake maker! I'm actually going to do a wedding cake and all the catered goodies for a family wedding this Spring, so hmmm....

Gin--I know! I can't wait to try them (and eat them!).

Linda--I know that you must make some beautiful cards for Valentine's Day!! I love flowers too, but am always happy with a night out with my hubby. Heart back at you again! LOL

I ran over to Bakerella so fast for the Valentine Treat receipe, that I had to come back and comment..lol

Thanks for the link. Hopefully, I will be able to post a pic of them before they are eaten.

Ray and I are going to eat at Olive Garden, he's taking me to a lookout place in Hoover where you can look out over the entire city of Birmingham, and then we're going bowling. Originally, we were going to a movie, but then we thought about it and decided that we couldn't have fun and be silly in a movie, so that's when we opted for bowling.

Love your post Cheryl! As you know, I am not a cook or a baker, but lately I've been totally into cupcakes! I've made cupcakes twice this year! Woo hoo. That's big for me! :D

And I really love Valentine's Day! I love having an excuse to do something nice for the hubby and my friends! In Mexico this holiday is also a day to celebrate your close friends...they call it the day of love and friendship! :D

Sheila--Don't they look FABULOUS?? I cannot wait to make them!!!! (Maybe I should do a test run a few days early? LOL) Can't wait to see how yours turn out!

Steph--The lookout place sounds totally romantic, and Olive Garden is ALWAYS good!! :-)

Maria--I just LOVE that in Mexico it's considered a day of love and friendship. That is so perfect!!

I wish we did more for Valentine's day. Thursday I have to bake 50 cupcakes for the girls to go to school with, and they will sign their Valentine's cards. I'm thinking about making them wear red or pink so I can get some good photos of them signing them. LOL

Ms. L--Yeah, I saw that one too. But it looked a little bit too complicated for my tastes. But I've tried a lot of her other stuff. Her Oreo Truffles were a big hit for me this Christmas. Yum!

Anon--You will love her blog!

Heather--Oh my goodness. That's A LOT of cupcakes. Have fun! (And I think the picture is a great idea!)

Could you just bake some for me and send them? I'm sure they'd still be fresh after 3-4 days of postal traffic. ;)

Actually, I'm making sugar cookies for my dtr's Valentines for her class mates. A friend of mine does this tradition (her mom did it for her). She makes large sugar cookies in heart shapes and each cookie has the "intended's" name on it in frosted script. Isn't that cute?

I lurve Valentine's day b/c I"m a hopeless romantic. Big usually catches on in time to take me to lunch (less crowded) and give me a few trinkets from my favorite store (usually bath smellies).

p.s. email me and I can interview you. gretchen.hanna@comcast.net

Gretchen--Oh, I just LOVE the idea of the cookies with the names on them. So sweet! Have fun making them! (And, oh, I will email you soon.)

Corey--I can't wait to make them!

Adrienne--Oh yeah! I made them back at Christmas and they were a big hit! All of her stuff is SO fun.

Oh yummy!!

I like Valentine's Day, but I hate going out to dinner because it's always so crowded. So we usually have a special dinner at home and it's a family thing. My daughter is making a chocolate heart-shaped cake for us this year!

BUT - since it's a Saturday Todd and I are heading out to Valley Forge to wander through the park and just enjoy each other for the afternoon. And hold hands a lot! lol

I'm with Jenster -- we don't go out to eat on Valentine's Day, it's just too crazy. We get something special to have at home, maybe pate and champagne, filet mignon, something good for dessert, etc.

We don't make a huge deal out of Valentine's Day; to us, our anniversary is more special. And we go out for a nice just-the-two-of-us-dinner at least once a month. It seems like for many couples, Valentine's is the only day they do that.

I saw those on Bakerella, and thought they looked so YUMMY!

I think I'm coming to your house for Valentine's Day! LOL!

Mr. Mister and I are going to the Macaroni Grill. I'm not sure what else we will do.

Jenster--Those sound like some GREAT plans! Gary and I will avoid the crowds (or try to) by going out on Friday night instead. It was about time for our regular "date night," so Val Day landed at a good time. :-) Enjoy your weekend!

LZ--I just LOVED your anniversary story. I hope you have a happy Valentine's Day too!

Deborah--Mmmm, your meal sounds DELICIOUS!!!! I love Val Day because it's just ANOTHER excuse to go out together, in addition to all the other times. LOL

Kathy--That sounds wonderful too!

OH MY GOSH those look so good! Cheryl you know you do this to me ALL the time, and I think it's really unfair. Desserts are my weakness for pete's sake!
