Four Randomly Fun Questions & Answers
(Googled for a cool image I could use for today's post and found this book. Totally cracked me up, and it works for this blog entry. Maybe I could write a book about randomness...)
I have been slacking on my Random Tuesday posts, so I thought I'd play catch-up today and do a fun, really random "question and answer" session. Just some questions I thought of, based on what's going on in my life right now. (As per the usual random post "rules"--if you can call them that--answer the questions here in the comments section or post them on your own blog. Just let us know you're posting them, so we can come visit you.)
Okay, let's see:
...Based on the fact that we are super-busy right now with softball (both Delaney's school team and Scout's park ball team), the first question is:
(1) Have you ever played on an organized sports team?
I was on my junior high dance team (loved that!) and was a cheerleader for a year as well (can still do a mean cartwheel, but my back handspring disappeared years ago!), but the only time I was on a real "sports" team was when I was in the ninth grade and decided to join my church youth group's softball team. I really don't know what I was thinking...I always sucked at any games during school P.E. and usually trailed in pretty near the end during our school's Field Day races...but I decided to give it a go. To put it mildly, it was not a good thing. I don't remember getting any hits and they put me in the outfield, where I pretty much stood there and prayed that no ball would come flying my way.
Let's just say that I am a much better spectator. I love any and all sports and totally get into any sort of competition...just as long as I'm on the sidelines cheering my favorite team on!
...Based on the fact that I am totally addicted to "Lost" and cannot wait for tonight's episode (which makes the Star Wars geek inside of me incredibly happy, since the episode's title is "Some Like it Hoth"...you now, from the planet Hoth in "The Empire Strikes Back"?...lol), the second question is:
(2) What t.v. show are you loving right now and/or what shows have you been "addicted" to in the past?
Well, this is a very obvious given....the show I'm currently most addicted to (addicted, as in I troll the Internet looking for teasers and news; I DVR all the episodes and go back and watch them more than once) is "Lost," but I also really love "The Big Bang Theory," "How I Met Your Mother," and "Fringe."
When I was a child, I loved "Charlie's Angels," "Wonder Woman," and "Bionic Woman" (my best friends and I acted like all of those characters during recess). In high school, I was hooked on "Remington Steele" and "Moonlighting" and "Falcon Crest" (remember that one?). Later on in college and then later on after that, some of my favorites have been "Seinfeld" and "Star Trek: The Next Generation" and even "Melrose Place" (Gary and I were hooked on it when we first married, and the inspiration for Sydney's name probably partly came from that character on that show).
... Based on the fact that I did a Facebook quiz that tested what Beatles song I am most like (it came up with "Across the Universe," which I'm totally cool with), the fourth question is:
(3) actually a two-parter: (a) What is your favorite Beatles song? (b) Is there a song you're loving right now?
(a) I do love "Across the Universe," but probably my very favorite Beatles song would be "In My Life." I just love the words to that one (although there are some other really great ones..."Hello Goodbye," "Something," "Paperback Writer," "Revolution"...so many really!), and (b) It's getting older now, but I still can't help but sing/scream Kelly Clarkson's "My Life Would Suck Without You" at the top of my lungs whenever I hear it.
...Based on the fact that this is such a busy time of year (see aformentioned softball!), I am completely ready for some sort of getaway with Gary next month on our anniversary, which brings us to the fourth and final question:
(4) Where would you fly away to, right now, if you could possibly do it?
If money and time and scheduling were no object, I'd want to head off to Italy, or Scotland, or Australia! But those things are at issue, and I'm actually thinking right now of spending a few days with Gary for our anniversary, so I would be totally happy with... a short cruise to the Caribbean, or a weekend in New Orleans, or a stay at the beach (heck, right now I'd be happy with a trip to a cute little bed and breakfast down the road).

How fun, Cheryl! I would've pictured you as a softball fiend since your family is so hooked. I can totally see the cheerleader in you, though. Very cool. I think I'm going to do this on my blog today or tomorrow. I don't think I know the Across the Universe song. Laughing at "Hoth". My son is SUCH a fan.

Fun questions!
1) Yes. I played on an organized softball team back in 1999-2000. Since spring of 2002 I've been on between one and three hockey teams (depending on the season). For the spring season that starts in two weeks, I'll be on two full time and a sub player on another.
2) Current TV addictions: "Dancing with the Stars" and "Beautiful People" (coming soon to Logo, but I got BBC copies).
Recent addiction: "Battlestar Galactica" and "RuPaul's Drag Race" (there are soooo many more, but these are the most recent two).
3a) "Yellow Submarine"
3b) I don't really have anything new in my playlists right now :-/
4) Ireland
What a great idea for my post tomorrow...from home!!
See you then.

LOL....I always LOVE your random Tuesdays! :D
Here are my answers:
(1) Have you ever played on an organized sports team?
Nope. Never. Zip. Nada. I was the kid everyone prayed NOT to have in their team. I tend to have that effect on organized sports, LOL.
(2) What t.v. show are you loving right now and/or what shows have you been "addicted" to in the past?
I typically do not watch much TV, but thanks to TiVo I have watched a few recorded shows here and one of my faves is “The Closer.” Gotta love Kyra Sedgwick, I just think she is sooooo cool; you know, when you have a chief police investigator woman, who is smart, attractive, a true fashionista, loves to stash chocolate bars in her desk drawers, always skillfully closes every case, marries a handsome FBI agent in the show (and nothing less than Kevin Bacon in real life); well, what’s not to LOVE?! And I also have found myself liking the show “Bones” (yeah, I can’t even believe that one myself, but my daughter and husband love it and I guess it’s rubbed off on me.) And yes, "Fringe," too. There is something about it.
And I’m totally with you on all the shows I used to love as a child, "Charlie's Angels," "Wonder Woman," and "Bionic Woman!” And I totally remember being hooked on "Remington Steele" and "Moonlighting" and yes, "Falcon Crest." After those, FRIENDS was a big one for me! I still love to watch re-runs!
(3) actually a two-parter: (a) What is your favorite Beatles song? (b) Is there a song you're loving right now?
(a) I’m also with you on "Across the Universe.” And “Hello Goodbye.” But I also have always loved “Yesterday.”
(b) I’m loving my new Placido Domingo CD…in particular his duet song with my Josh, “La Tua Semplicita.”
(4) Where would you fly away to, right now, if you could possibly do it?
No question about it, I would fly to Nova Scotia and Kansas City! I have friends in those two places that I can’t wait to see them and hang out with for a some good quality time. I MISS them so much.
