Busy, Busy
The writers conference took up most of my time this past weekend from Thursday until Saturday night...and it was FANTASTIC! We had 212 attendees; the speakers were awesome; and the spirit of creativity and friendship in the place was just inspiring.
But now...I am tired! LOL
So, instead of spending a lot of time on my weekend recap post, I am going to go the easy route and just post a few pictures for you to enjoy. (And I promise a longer and better post sometime soon!)
On Wednesday evening, we celebrated Delaney's birthday one more time at my parents' house (this time with cheesecake--her favorite dessert)...
We spent all of Thursday getting ready for the conference (with a trip to the swimming pool mixed in!), and then had a fabulous time at it. Here are just a few pictures of speakers and attendees...
The conference is a huge family affair (my parents founded it 18 years ago; my brother, Christopher, and I help with it and are also speakers every year), so it was great to spend the weekend with Christopher and my nephews...
my Aunt Vicki came in from South Carolina...
And then all of the grandkids are involved too. McKenna was on staff this year and did so much in all areas...
Delaney (and Scout) manned my book table...
My nephews and Sydney helped draw for door prizes in the closing session (she looked forward to that all weekend!)...
After the conference ended, we enjoyed a fabulous dinner at a river-side restaurant with my family. Sydney and Matthew checked out the scenery outdoors...
The conference was wonderful, as it is every year, but it always takes a lot of energy out of us. So, on Saturday night and most of Sunday, I tried to get some rest and recuperate a little bit.
By Sunday evening, though, I decided to go watch Delaney play some softball. (Her team ended up coming in third place and played really well)...
And now?
It's mid-Monday; I've got laundry piled up to my ears; I have to get everything unpacked still from this weekend; Sydney has a doctor's appointment in the morning; I've got to do some shopping; I'm having some of our teen friends over tomorrow night for a birthday/graduation dinner; and I've got to start getting ready for our much-anticipated trip to the beach at the end of the week...so life is, always, busy!!! (But, it's GOOD!)
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend as well. Hope to check in with you all soon (if I emerge from under the laundry and the groceries!).

Love the pictures, what kind of cake did she get?
Steph--I can't wait to have you guys over. I got all the ingredients, so there's some good cake and Italian food coming. MMMM.
Phats--Well, she had cheesecake on that night. But before that she had a big ole layer cake from our local bakery that was really good...vanilla cake on the inside with chocolate frosting.
Yayyyy! I'm so excited. I'm ready for Ray to get his gifts. He's gonna love them!
P.S. If you will, go read the blog I posted today.
