I think I'm gonna love February

Well, can you believe that it is February already?

As I get older, it seems like the days and the weeks and the months go by faster and faster. I love the changes, and am always ready for something new, but I do wish things would slow down sometime. I want to enjoy every moment and every good thing as much as possible!

As another February announces itself to me, I realize that this is one of my very favorite times of the year. There are always so many things starting up again, and so much to look forward to...and it seems especially true this year.

To start off with, tomorrow is finally, almost here and I am SO. EXCITED. I. CAN. HARDLY. STAND. IT.

The final season of "Lost" premieres tomorrow and I have been anticipating it for so long and the excitment just keeps building and building. I'm already sad to think of it ending, but knowing that this is the last season will make it even more special for all of us crazed-Losties. (I truly am probably way too obsessed with it--seeing that I stalk blogs and message boards and websites and so forth--but I reason that I could be obsessed with a lot worse things. Right?)

February also ushers in softball with Delaney's middle school team. She is so excited to make the team again this year and thinks that they could be really good. I love being a Softball Mom and can't wait to cheer my favorite second baseman on to victory!

I also can't wait to cheer on McKenna as she competes in her Winterguard competitions. They've already had one competition this past weekend and did really well (they came in 4th out of 8 in their classification, but were only .2 points behind 2nd place), and February will be full of more contests in Alabama and Tennessee (culminating in a regional championship at Vanderbilt University).

When we talk about our favorite weekends of the year, everyone in our family invariably mentions our Family Life Retreat at our favorite campground in the world. We have ours this month and we can't wait. It's a wonderful time to get away from it all (no cell phone or computer service!), enjoy the beauty of nature, to spend time with family and our best friends, and to smile and laugh a lot.

The month should be filled with all sorts of other goodness...speaking at a writers retreat, going to see some new movies, seeing my friend Jeff from NYC, starting softball practices with Sydney, watching a lot of The Olympics...and, personally, I can't wait for it all. (What is life if you don't have good things to look foward to?)

And, of course, the month of February brings lots of talk of love. (And, obviously, all the chocolate and sweet treats and fun that comes with Valentine's Day!)

What are you looking forward to this week, and this month?

February already! *gasp*

It's true that the older you get the quicker time goes by...

No big plans for the month other than V-day, a couple of baby showers and birthdays. :)

Have a great week!!!

Phats--You KNOW that I'm already looking forward to March Madness. One of my fave times of the year! We aren't scheduled to go past Regionals, but that would be awesome to even see some of the squads at nationals. (Although we're good, we're not quite that good!)

Marg--LOL I am definitely coming up with some Valentine's Day cupcakes. :-)

How is it February already?

One highlight of February passed yesterday as Will and I had pictures done for the NOH8 campaign (you can see some behind the scenes shots over on our blog).

I'm looking forward to coming to Bama for a few days to see family, friends and eat some good food that I can't get up here (Cypress Inn biscuits, Kozy's deserts, Cracker Barrel!)

Olympics are coming up and that means good hockey, figure skating, luge, bobsled and, yes, curling!

I expect to get another short story out for (I hope) publication so I am excited to wrap that up.

Good movies too: "Dear John," "Valentines Day" and who knows what else might come into the multiplex.

It's gonna be a good month.

Hey Jeff: Sounds like a lot of good stuff for you too! I love the Olympics and I watch ALL the sports (yes, even curling! LOL). McKenna and Delaney can't wait to see Dear John, while the Percy Jackson movie is what I'm looking forward to the most.

I'm about to heaad out and look at your pictures. Good for you and Will!
