A Wonderful Get-Away! Gary and I had such a great weekend away for our anniversary! It was so much fun! And it's always SO great just to spend time with each other--without kids jumping all over you or having to be a chauffeur somewhere. And how nice to have totally "grown up" conversation without being interrupted! We decided last year on our 10th that we would go away to a bed and breakfast type place every anniversary from now on! And we are so glad that we have started that tradition! I'd recommend that EVERY couple do the same thing! I've posted some pictures above that show some of the highlights of our getaway. We stayed at a place called The Cliffs Lodge, about five miles outside Mentone, Alabama (up in the north part of the state close to the Georgia line). There are a few pics of us there (the back walkway of our inn, us sitting on a rock that was right behind the rooms). There's a pic of the flowers and anniversary card that our sweet innkeepers gave us--aaahh!! And then there are several pics of DeSoto Falls (just GORGEOUS!!! the Falls were SO high and I'm a weeny when it comes to heights, but I did pretty well looking out on them!). Also a pic of Little River Falls (the one of Gary sitting out on the ledge with the Falls below them). A pic of us exploring on one of the trails in De Soto State Park--we had seen that there were people down BELOW the big waterfalls, so we decided to explore and see if we could find the trail to get there. We didn't make it there, but we found some great caves and views along the way. So that was cool! And, of course, a pic of me eating--which is like my favorite thing to do while on vacation. You can put me anywhere and I will find a good place to eat. This was at the neatest little restaurant called Windwood Farms and it was just a little house all fixed into a restaurant. Had the BEST steak and fresh gulf shrimp. And then a chocolate pie to DIE FOR !! Yummy! So, as you can tell, we had a really fun time that was filled with "Kodak Moments." It's hard to believe sometimes that we've been married for eleven years!! We have our share of squabbles and disagreements (what couple doesn't?), but I share am glad we found each other that night so many years ago! I can't imagine being with anyone else. We just know each other too well now!
