Weekend Report . . .
a good Father's Day and lots of Watery Fun!
Had two great Father's Day get-togethers this past weekend! On Friday night, we went out and visited with Larry (Paw-Paw!!) and the crew at Tannehil. They'd been out camping there all week and we hung out at their camping spot. The girls got to hunt for lightning bugs and took the dogs for walks--some simple fun (no TV anywhere!!). And we treated Larry and Clara to dinner at the restaurant inside Tannehil. It was VERY good and we were extremely STUFFED when we got done. Just gotta say that I LOVE fried green tomatoes. One of my favorite foods in the world! (I'm thinking that I could have ordered two orders of them and I would have been very happy!) The catfish was good too--another one of my faves!
So we had a great time visiting with them on Friday night. I have super in-laws and Larry is just a great guy! He truly loves his family and he and Gary really appreciate and enjoy each other (of course, Gary says that this comes after all those trying teen and early-adult years when he gave his Dad TOO much grief; but now they are just great friends!).
We did Father's Day with my Dad on Sunday afternoon (after we all SKIPPED church for the first time in ages--I really felt BAD about it, but at the same time the extra sleep was really nice. I woke up in time to take a shower, then laid back down and when Iwoke up it was 9:45. And Sunday School starts at 9. Yikes!!! So, I hope my Sunday School class doesn't fire me!!)
We quickly gave Gary his Father's Day presents (one was the "Batman Begins" DVD--can't wait to watch it!) and took some pics of him with the girls (love the one above of he and Scout giving each other a kiss!!)
On Sunday, we actually had three celebrations--Father's Day for Dad, plus belated birthday celebrations for both Christopher (back from May 31) and Delaney. We had pizza for Dad (his favorite!), then cake for Christpher and cupcakes for Delaney. Too many goodies!
I took a lot of great photos of the celebrations, but the ones I gotta share are of the five kids playing in the sprinkler. They had SO much fun and were so fun to watch!!! Even Sydney, once she got used to it, loved it! (that last photo CRACKS me up; Garrett was standing there, inching his bottom closer and closer to the water so he could get it right on it. So funny!)
Okay, that last photo SERIOUSLY cracks me up. There's Mom out there with the rest of the kids in her bathing suit too. She's a nut!
The next photo's pretty funny too! The kids all decided to do a Conga line through the sprinkler, and there's Sydney jumping into the back of the line. She just joined right in! (Later, they had her leading the line too!)
Times like this remind me of how important it is to just let kids be kids! There's something about a kid and a sprinkler--they just go together and they immediately know how to have fun!! It also reminds me that GROWN UPS need to stop and have fun too!

Loved the pictures!! And even fun Mom in one! HA! The kids looked as if they were having so much fun. Like you, I think that is important. Also, like I said yesterday, I want them to have good memories of being at Grandma’s and Granddad’s.

Marg--
Yep, it's like looking at Christopher from my childhood. Matthew looks JUST like he did when he was 7! So cute!
