Some Creations
& My Journaling Class!!

Thought I'd spend a few minutes this morning letting everyone know about a class I will be teaching this upcoming Tuesday night, January 23, at Scrapbook Mania here in the Birmingham area. The class is called "Spice Up Your Journaling" and is going to be SO much fun! I love teaching, and combine that with scrapbooking, and there couldn't be anything better!

The class is really going to be a hands-on class that will get you more in-tune to the words on your scrapbook page. Personally, I always like to include some journaling on my pages--it doesn't always have to be a long story, but I like to include some sort of writing (even if it's just a sentence or two) so that I can capture the essence of what really happened in the photos or so I can tell the why behind the pictures. There's always a story in there somewhere, and I think it's important to capture that!

At my class, we'll talk about and do several different journaling techniques. We'll talk about techniques such as:
* Storytelling
* Lists
* Who, what, when,where, why
* Word prompts
* Journaling strips and blocks
* Repetition
* Quizzes and other fun techniques
* And a whole lot more!

All students will also leave the class with two complete layouts done, so bring 2 photos (or two sets of photos) that you want scrapped. They can be pictures of a person, place, event--anything that you want to get down on a page!

The class is just $15 and this includes a pen for your journaling and some very informative handouts. Just bring a notebook to write on and your photos (plus any basic supplies you usually use!).

This is my first class to teach at Scrapbook Mania and so the customers don't really know me yet. But I'm hoping you'll come and give it a go. I guarantee we'll have a good time!

Go to www.myscrapbookmania.com to learn more (especially check out the store's blog; you can also read more about me on her list of designers), and either email me or contact the store to sign up. Hope to see some of you there!!

Now, since we were talking about scrapbooking (and we were!!), thought I'd share a few of my latest creations.

The one at the top is one I actually did yesterday, using a picture that I just LOVE of McKenna over the holidays. I had so much fun incorporating some cool elements--like paper strips to make the frame, some Heidi Swapp bling stickers (the rhinestones), and staples. I also love any combination of pink and black! The journaling is around the edge of the paper (although my scan cut off the bottom edge; sorry!) and says: "This picture of McKenna--which was taken before the football banquet in December,06--showcases her outer beauty . . . her beautiful smile, makeup, and sense of style. She doesn't always think she's beautiful, but I tell her all the time that she is. I tell her that is beautiful on the inside as well. Her inner beauty is what I'm so proud of, for her true beauty comes from her intellect, her kindness, her depth, her character, her faith, and her joy."

Last Friday night I actually went to a crop at the store and actually got three layouts completed. A really pretty big accomplishment, since crops usually mean I talk and eat a lot (and don't get much work done). But I did!

This layout, "Thankful," shows three of my fave pics from Thanksgiving with some paper that I absolutely LOVE!! (Plus buttons and cut-out flowers--two of my favorite things!)

And I did this layout to show that my Christmas collections are important to me during the holidays. Super SIMPLE page, basically using patterned paper, some cardstock, letter stickers, and a few buttons. Gotta love that!

And then maybe my favorite page in a while!! Mostly because of the AWESOME picture of Sydney as the focal point. This was at the "Honey I Shrunk the Kids" playground at MGM Studios at Disney World. Look at the look on her face!! She was completely overjoyed and enthralled with the playground--hence, the title!!

Remember--let us know if you want to come to the class. I hope to meet some new scrappin gals from my area!

Have a great Thursday!! Get CREATIVE!!

If I was local I would be there! I so want to learn how to do this and I do believe as much as one thinks they can do it, it requires a certain amount of skill to go with the desire and passion. Good luck with your classes - clearly your students will be learning from a pro. Enjoy the experience. Lots of love. xxooxx

now thats a class i could SO find useful... maybe you could put "lessons" on your blog? you know- for those of us- i mean, for people who have just started scrapping and are battling more than a little to get started with each page... even when i- i mean they plan it!
