Woo Hoo, I Made it Back On . . .
With Some of My Scrappy Fun!

Thanks to those of you who posted this morning, letting me know that you didn't think I was a slacker! (And well to my dh, Gary, who said I was indeed a slacker! Thanks sweetie! LOL)

I've spent some time over the last four or five days working on some scrapbooking projects. I mentioned the other day that I finally got my two most recent albums (Summer and Fall) organized, which was much better than having page layouts just strewn all over my scrap area! I did a few Fall and Christmas layouts, and finally sat down to work on some Disney pages. Fun, fun--because it brought back so many great memories! I also worked on a project I'm doing for an upcoming class (see below for more info about that!)

But thought I'd share a few pages with you...

Here is the Title page I did for the Summer album I just got organized. Summers are always my favorite part of the year, because there's always so much going on and so much to look forward to. This page just has some of my fave pics and memories from this past one--from softball, to McKenna's group that went to D.C., to riding on the Savannah dinner cruise boat, to me enjoying a pina colada on my bday. Good times!

(And, you know, looking at all of the pages, I'm not really sure what my style is. But whatever it is it looks consistent across these pages. Maybe just casual, collagey, fun!)

So, my Summer title page (and, oh, love that quote in the middle. You might not can read it. It says "One must have sunshine, freedom, and a little flower.") . . .

I quickly moved on to trying to get caught up on my Fall pics and memories. One thing we did A LOT of this past fall was go to high school football games. We had a good friend whose son is the quarterback, plus we knew cheerleaders and flag corp girls and, if you live in a small town like we do, pretty much everyone goes to the football games on Friday night anyway!! And this year was McKenna's first attempt at being in a marching band (I'll never forget after the first practice she said, "I can play, and I can march, but I don't think I'll ever learn how to do them at the same time." Well, she figured it out!)

The journaling got sucked up on the bottom on this scan, so it reads: "McKenna's first year in the HHS marching band was great! She had to learn the melophone for mraching--and then how to march and play at the same time. Some highlights from the year--the Queen halftime show, straight 1s in competition, and making the football state playoffs." . . .

One of the highlights of our Fall was getting to go to Disney World. (How MUCH fun did we have?? A lot!) Probably the thing the girls liked best was searching for all the characters and this time, for some reason, there just seemed to be a lot more roaming around. So we got a TON of photos with all of them. This is a page I did of our three favorite characters--Mickey Mouse (we actually had very little trouble or wait to get a pic with him), Donald and Daisy Duck (Scout really didn't like about half of the characters--they kinda freaked her out--but she liked them!), and the Monsters Inc. guys (they are the ones that I wanted to find. My faves!) The pic of Gary with his favorite--the lovely Jasmine from Aladdin--is on the next page (I did a 2-page layout that goes with this layout that has another 9 pics of us with characters) . . .

(By the way, Scout sat down and looked at that page this morning and said over and over, "I want to go see them right now. I love Donald Duck." I kept trying to convince her that we can't just run down the corner to Disney World, but she told me we could. If only it were so, sweetie!)

Then, just a few weeks ago I shared with all of you that one of our favorite Christmas traditions was our time to unwrap gifts privately on Christmas Eve. We wait till the kids are asleep, light a fire, and slowly look at the gifts we got each other. And on top of each of our gifts are these silly tags we write to each other. Not really how we got that tradition started, but we do it every year and it always just brings a smile to my face. I actually tore a few of the tags off of the gifts this year, thinking that I'd make a scrapbook page with them. Well, I did (If you can't read our writing, some of our little "names" for each other are things like "Sweet Momma," "Hotty," and "My Superhero" Ha!!) . . .

It always makes me feel SO good to get a few pages down. Why do I scrapbook? Because I don't EVER want to forget the memories we share together. I know how quickly time flies (believe me I do--it's hard to believe my oldest DD is even in high school already!) and I want to relive the days as they keep flying by! I also love that my kids love them. Last week, McKenna had two guy friends over and she must have had them look through 5 scrapbooks. They just all got the biggest kick out of looking at the pics and reliving some of the memories we shared together! Just very cool, don't ya think?

Some Other Scrappy News

If you are near me, I'm going to be teaching a Journaling class on Jan. 23 at Scrapbook Mania (this is right near Hoover, by Birmingham). I'm going to teach different journaling techniques and we're gonna do two complete page layouts.

And also--I am SO BEYOND excited about a Scrapbook Extravaganza I'm organizing at our church on February 10. This is a fundraiser for the Student Leadership University trip that McKenna and five of our other youth are going on this summer to London and Paris. It's gonna be an all-day event from 10 am to 10 pm and will have great sessions (including one by Adrienne, who is one of the most awesome scrapbookers anywhere!), door prizes on every hour, layout contests, an on-site store, lunch, dinner, snacks, and all kinds of fun. If you are in Alabama (hint, hint-Telah, Leah, Heather, Rhonda) (or even close by in Mississippi or Tenneesee; LOL), you really should come! It's just $30 and is gonna be great! It's for a great cause and I'm already getting good feedback (McKenna herself has already sold over 10 tickets; we're hoping to have 50-60 people there, which would just be great!) I will give you all more details as it gets closer.

Thanks for hanging with me through all of that and I'm SO glad I was finally able to get through and blog about this this morning.

Have a happy Thursday, and see ya tomorrow!! (Same bat time, same bat channel! LOL)
