It's SNOWING!! and Happy Valentine's Day!!

Okay, okay... I know that all of you friends from up north who are sick and tired of getting feet and feet of snow will laugh at me hysterially, but we are SO excited because we are getting snow right now! We have literally had no snow for probably five years and last year we had maybe a bit of flurries that lasted for 30 minutes and it has actually been snowing since about 7 this morning (it's about 9:30 right now!). Yes, it's just a dusting but it's more than we've had in forever and I just know that Delaney is giddy at school right now (she loves snow and cries at every winter's end when it hasn't snowed)!!

This is what it looks like on my hot tub on my deck right now and on our front porch bannister. Don't laugh, Phats and Cinderella and all you other northern snow bunnies... we're actually excited about this much snow!!

(Crazy Southern weather that we live in--yesterday around noon it got up to 60 degrees and then we had tornadoes last night. And today, snow!)

A funny little update already: Yep,the snow has already stopped! And it's all but disappeared from everywhere (I guess that's what happens when the ground is so hot! SO, my little photos there are more special than I thought. They may be the only pics of snow we have all year. Pretty pitiful, huh?LOL)

And now... how about a HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY
to all of my sweet blog friends. I love you all and am so glad we've become friends! I hope you have a wonderful day today!!!

I am about to head out to the store to buy some Val Day goodies for the girls (yes, waiting until the LAST minute!!). I had some fun things I had planned on making (some altered goodies, that I don't think I have time for now), but this past week kind of changed a lot of plans. But we will still have a good day!!! (And a White Valentine's Day is probably the best gift of all for my family! LOL)

Gary and I usually go out on Valentine's Day on a date, but I think we will skip that tonight. The girls have church and we're actually having dinner up there tonight. So, we will probably try and skip the rush-rush of finding a restaurant and go out tomorrow night instead. (Besides, the Alabama basketball game has a HUGE game tonight against #1 Florida. We will most likely get a butt-whipping, but you never know! Personally, I don't want to be stuck at a restaurant while I'm missing the game! So, part of my Valentine's Day will be spent in front of the tv! lol) Right now, I'm just so happy to have Gary healthy and at home with us!

(Which leads me to an update: we had an appointment with Gary's neurologist yesterday who basically just told us that he couldn't find anything in his tests that revealed why he had a stroke and that he would recommend that we go to a stroke specialist. I thought that was good news--that another doctor with more expertise might give us some better insight. In the meantime, G is supposed to take aspirin every day and try to take it a little bit easier. He's still frustrated with his speech sometimes, but he is resting, which is pretty rare for him!)

Now, with this being Valentine's Day, we all may be in a sappy mood. So I thought I'd share the poem that is listed today on AOL as the #1 love poem of all time. It listed 10 different poems--a lot of familiar ones by Shakespeare and Shelley and Lord Byron. Great poems!! But the #1 was the one I expected--Sonnet #43 from "Sonnets from the Portuguese" by Elizabeth Barrrett Browning. Still beautiful after all these years!!

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight
For the ends of Being and ideal Grace.
I love thee to the level of everyday's
Most quiet need, by sun and candle-light.
I love thee freely, as men strive for Right;
I love thee purely, as they turn from Praise.
I love thee with the passion put to use
In my old griefs, and with my childhood's faith.
I love thee with a love I seemed to lose
With my lost saints, -- I love thee with the breath,
Smiles, tears, of all my life! -- and, if God choose,
I shall but love thee better after death.

And now, in closing, how about a RAK? I don't think I've ever given anything away on my blog before, but I kinda feel like spreading the love today! So, if you will comment on my post today (all of you regulars, speak up like "regular" and all of you lurkers--make yourself known!), I will draw a name from the comments and send you a fun Valentine-themed creation that I have made! What can you comment about?

Comment about anything from my post today, or
Comment about what you're doing for Valentine's Day, or
Rub it in about how much snow you already have had this winter, or
Just anything!!

Hope you have a wonderful Valentine's Day!! You are loved!!!

Hey I'm the first to comment!

Have a great Valentine's Day Cheryl! I bought my kids gifts on Saturday and they found them in the back of the car that day, so that don't get anything today. Except a hug! :)

We are getting more snow in Oklahoma. To be honest we are tired of the Snow and Ice. I can't wait from Spring. That rodent better have been right, and "Early Spring" I know the people in New York hope so too. I understand your excitement. Living in Alabama is like Oklahoma "You Never Know What You Are Going To Get!" Kisses to everyone

My Emma would be so jealous if she knew it was snowing in Alabama, just 2 short states away. She has been wishing for snow all winter. We've come close but it never happened!

We live in NM, so I know what it's like to be excited about snow - even if it's just a little bit of snow to cover the ground :)

That does sound like "good" news that he's being referred to a stroke specialist - hopefully he can give you some answers!

Happy valentine's day!

Glad G's resting. I wondered if all the constant rushing around he does could have somehow contributed to his condition. Maybe God's way of saying, "Slow Down!" Anyway, yes J and M were Giddy over the dusting of snow we were getting earlier. We're gonna have to bundle up at Camp this weekend!! Gonna be Cold!!! That reminds me. I'm bringing my Trivial Pursuit 80's edition this weekend. So, I'm officialy throwing down the challenge gauntlet! See ya!!

Happy Valentine's Day from a snowy NYC. Actually Snow and Icy as what is falling from the sky is a mix of flurries and ice. Ick! I would much prefer just snow. I tossed a picture up from my office window this morning if you want to see how things looked at 9am.

Glad to hear the news about Gary too.

I love snow, but we don't get it very often either. So, it's usually a BIG deal with us!
Happy Valentine's Day to you too!

Happy Valentine's Day!!! Your're too cute. I'm not going to mention the amounts of snow we've been getting; let's just say that school has been closed for last 3 days and it will probably be closed the rest of the week. Hope you guys have a wonderful and quiet Valentine's! We'll continue to keep yall in our thoughts & prayers.

First off HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!

Second, would your daughter like to visit me right now? We're snowed in and until just 1 hr ago not allowed to drive because of the snow emergency haha :) I hate snow, and I get so excited when winter is FINALLY over. It took me almost 1.5 hrs to shovel my driveway.

third- Still thinking of Gary :) Nothing to stimulating for Vday Cheryl haha

Cheryl! I love that poem....and it still makes me cry when I read it. One of my favorite love poems of all time! Glad to hear G. is resting (he should) and hope the specialist will figure out what's happening with him so they can treat him properly and prevent any future problems...still praying for him.
Happy Valentine's Day! We don't have any plans tonight, since it's a school night we'll most likely just stay home and see DD enjoy her Valentine day goodies. :)

I am just so glad that Gary is there with you and the two of you can cuddle up on the couch together! Nothing better than that!

We got about 8 more inches of snow and and inch of ice thrown in for good measure!

Just a quiet day here...too yucky to go out if you do not need to. We will cook in and watch a movie.
I had chocolate for everyone...a Barbie and a heart necklace for Grace, a DVD for Dan. I got my Mom a picture of her with Grace in a pretty frame.

The dogs got Doggie heart shaped cookies and the cats got red and pink furry mice!

Bill is back in VA until the 26th.
He left a sweet card and a gift certificate for a massgae for me! *sigh*

Grace made me a bear, a pretty card and a bracelet. Dan gave me a card and candy. Mom gave me a resturant GC for when Bill is home.

We had a Valentine party for friends and family last weekend so I guess we are just about Valentined out around here!

Stay well and safe...enjoy that dusting of snow! It is pretty!

Love,
Sue

I can't believe it actually snowed here today!! Flurries still count!
Looks like you had a heavier dusting than I did.

I hope the stroke specialist can find some answers and treatment. I'm wondering if Gary is going to a doc at UAB? You can email me if you'd like. kaylacreation@bellsouth.net

Happy Valentines Day to you all!

Ok I did laugh at the snow you had... but I guess when you don't see it very often... every little bit counts. It has finally stopped snowing here. My backyard is knee deep in places... Which isn't very much for February. March is our big snow month. YIKES!

-10F today...

Hey! I'm a new "lurker" here... Wouldn't have posted until I read what you said about the RAK and how the "lurkers" should post. Ha! I just discovered your blog today, in fact, and already love it! You've been saved to my favorites.

Wish I could send you more snow... I'm in Illinois and we had a pretty good snowstorm yesterday!

Happy Valentine's Day!!!

We were supposed to get snow but got ice instead...very messy and dangerous.
Your husband sounds like a clone of what my Mom went thru after her 1st stroke...and then years later she had a 2nd and while in the hospital the same day she had a 3rd, all her tests were couldn't indicate WHY she had the stroke but could positively determine she had one, until they decided to do the transesophageal echocardiogram and voila, there it was, that hole that caused it all.
My Mom's speech improved...but even a year later, she still sometimes cannot get the word out.

Hey do you want to hear something even funnier than you have snow??? I haven't had any and I'm sure you could count the amount of snow as a whole over the last 15 years in millimetres! I guess it has something to do with living on the coast and the air being a little warmer as it comes across the lough (lake).

Happy VD to you and your family :)

Hi Cheryl! Happy Valentine's Day!

Being a reluctant northerner, I must say that I am finished with snow. Sure, it's pretty and all that, but when you have to drive in it along with all the idiots, it becomes less fun.

Glad to hear Gary is feeling better and I hope the specialist will give you both the answers you need! I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers!

:)

oh and it's supposed to be 8 degrees tomorrow but with the wind chill it will feel more like -7!!! Brrrrr

(guess it's true...the grass is always greener.)

OK, Cheryl, I'm glad you got some snow down there. My husband actually stayed home from work because Penn State cancelled classes. (His lab goes with their snow closing schedule). So, we went sledding with the kids. It was rather cold and windy, but I'm glad the kids got to experience it. And some other news is that I have entered the blogging world. Yep, my blog doesn't even compare to yours (I really don't have anything interesting to say), but I'm giving it a shot!:)

I'm glad that Gary and you are able to spend this Valentine's day together at HOME.

Yes, Missouri got 5 inches of the white stuff yesterday and we are getting sick of it. I will start to ship it down to you if you want it to much.

The love you and Gary share inspires me every day. Happy Valentine's Day!

Ok I don't want to rub it in, really lol...we are getting our first NorEaster of the year...it has been snowing since about midnight last night, not supposed to stop until after midnight tonight. We are up to 12" so far. I am not complaining though, because we have had almost no snow for the winter.
Glad to hear G is feeling better, and what a wife he has...you guys are very special. Hope the day turned out well for you gf.!

Happy V-day to you!! We had flurries a little north of you.. but nothing on the ground.. it's so stinking cold, it would be nice to have snow to go with this freezing weather.
