Scrapjacked & More . . .

Well, I spent a little bit of time yesterday working on two scrapbook layouts. So I thought I'd share those two with you, and another that I did a few days ago.

First off, thanks to Telah for hooking me up with this really cool scrapbook blog called Scrapjacked. It has a challenge each week and asks its readers to be challenged and inspired by a "challenge" layout and see how you can interpret it as your own. The first week's challenge was of an Ali Edwards design (for you non-scrappers, she's a "celebrity" of sorts). The layout I created followed the basic design of Ali's page, but I added a lot of "me" to it--things like the Valentine doilies and the journaling on notebook paper. I really like how my "I Cherish My Life" page turned out (if you want to see the orginal, to see where my inspiration came from, go to the Scrapjacked page). Here's mine . . .

(If you're interested at all, the journaling says: "When I look at these photos, I really smile! They make me realize how much I truly have to cherish. We took these while trying to find the perfect photo for our 2006 Christmas card. After getting "the shot: (the one on top), the girls started goofing off--and, of course, we took photos of them! Sydney was climbing all over her sisters and they were giggling and just having a good time. At moments like that, I just have to smile and say a prayer of thanks--for my family, my girls, and the simple joys we share together. I cherish my life!")

Then, I sat down and also tried to get the rest of my Disney World photos taken care of. And, hooray, they are now done! I wanted to share two of those pages with you (the others were some more simple pages of the different sights and experiences we had there). I really wanted to do something with these gorgeous nighttime shots that we had of the giant Mickey hat at MGM, our resort at night, our hotel building at night, and a scene from the Fantasmic show at MGM. The result was my "amazing, 'magical' views" page. (The scan was kinda lopsided; sorry!) I LOVE that Heidi Swapp "bling-y" circle over that photo and, of course, Gary's photos just MAKE this. They are gorgeous, aren't they?

I have really started to enjoy grouping similar photos together on a page. I did that on the one above and then I did it on the next page coming up! I got a ton of pics from our Disney trip that involved the girls eating food, having snacks, and drinking drinks. The most, it seemed, were of them eating ice cream and drinking Icees. Let's just say that it was HOT the days we were there! So, I grouped some together for this "The Tastes of Disney" page! (I love all of those pictures, but the first one of Delaney with her lips pursed and her sucking that Icee up with all of her energy--I really LOVE that one!) The journaling on the strips of paper around the edges say: "ooh, was it hot! so nothing hit the spot . . . like Icees, ice cream, and daquiris!"

You know what I really LOVE about scrapbooking? It TAKES ME BACK! I can look at these pages and I feel like I'm at Disney all over again. It's so fun to re-live the memories!

And right now, believe me, being somewhere that is 85 degrees would be nice! It's doing a rain-sleet mixture outside right now and it's COLD!! (and for you Northerners that complain to me about my version of cold meaning it's 55 degrees--it really IS cold right now, I promise!)

A few other things going on right now . . .

McKenna made a really cool model of a cell for her Honors Biology class today. We were talking about mitochondria and such (and I avoided telling her much I sucked at Science in high school) . . . Two more people told me last night that they are coming to our Scrapbook Extravaganza at church on Feb. 10 (it's going to be SO much FUN and 100% of the profits are going to the trip McKenna and 4 others are taking to London!). I really think we will have a good crowd . . . Had some WONDERFUL news from an email group that I'm a part of. We'd been praying for a member who had very advanced lung cancer. She went to the doctor today and it had disappeared from many parts of her body and was pretty much left just in her neck (still a big deal, but nothing like she was prepared for!). Wow, prayer works! . . . The girls watched "American Idol" again tonight and gave me the updates (apparently, Los Angeles is a hotbed of talent since like 30 people made it through. But let me just wait until Hollywood Time, then I'll get into it!) . .. While they watched that, I watched something much more important in my book! Alabama got a MUCH-NEEDED road win against LSU tonight in basketball (we played so much better than we had been in the last two weeks and I'm hoping that things are turning around! . . . Thank you, Gary, for helping me get my videos back up on my blog. REM is there today because of my post from yesterday. . . .And, finally, the entire pan of Rice Krispy treats is gone! I totally expected that to happen (although I should have shared a few more with my family!)

Have a wonderful Thursday (can you believe it's already Thursday?) and thanks Telah and all you other scrapbookers and creative sorts for the INSPIRATION!!!

Your new scrap jobs are really cute!!!! Hope you are able to raise enough funds for the trip to London. I too have to get going on raising funds for our trip to London!!!

Wow - that is really great news and a miracle that the cancer has cleared in most parts of her body!!!

I have finally put up my post and pics!!!

I would do anything to get cold right now - it is really blistering hot over here and it makes for being lithargic and not in the mood for anything!!!

Take Care

I can't believe we are already in Feb. '07 - it's all feeling too fast for me at the moment. I LOVE the page with the journal input - it is fantastic. I remember so clearly how I promised myself I would take up scrapbooking when Ross was born. I have totes filled with boxes of things saved, written and specifically bought for these scrapbooks. Ross is coming up to his 10th birthday this summer ... I better go buy another tote 'cos I aint produced a scrapbook page yet. Love the stuff you create. And yes, all things considered, some warmer weather would be a great option. It's cold here in NJ, too. Have a great weekend ... it's almost like a new page for your scrapbook unfolds every day. :o) xox
