Some All-over-the-Place "Life with Cheryl" Moments . . .

~ ~ Well, the weather was absolutely GORGEOUS yesterday and today is supposed to be more of the same!! Up to 70 degrees and sunny!

With the mild weather we've had (in between weird snow flurries and freeze-your-butt-off days), daffodils have appeared all over the place!

I got these flowers--daffodils, rosemary, and some assorted greenery--from a friend last night and they just make me happy and brighten up the room (I've got four different arrangements sprinkled throughout the hosue!) and boy do the smell GOOD!

~ ~ Yesterday, Sydney and I were doing some errands and had to stop by the bank. We got out of the car, Sydney immediately grabbing her juice cup and a sucker to hold in both hands. She wanted to also hold a sheet of stickers and a brush. As we got ready to walk across the parking lot, she looked up at me with exasperation.

"But I've only got two hands!" she said, throwing them up for me to look at. I just had to laugh because how often is that EXACTLY how I feel? There's always so much going on, life is so busy and full, that I wish I had several more hands. ButI only have two hands!! (I just love it when she says such things!)

~ ~ Did any of you watch "American Idol" last night? We had our Ash Wednesday service at church, so we didn't see but the last half. But, we did determine our early faves--Jordin and Melinda--and then were BLOWN AWAY by Lakesha. Wow, what a voice! and stage presence!

~ ~ Speaking of our Ash Wednesday service, this was the nugget that I took away from our pastor: "This time of year helps us realize who we are and who need to be." The service is always meaningful--the imposition of ashes on our foreheads that remind us of our human-ness--but that quote was what impressed me. It's a time for fresh starts and discovering who we really need to be!

(And, oh, McKenna has decided to give up MySpace for Lent. Now, THAT is a sacrifice! And I'm proud of her for even trying it!! We'll see how it gos!)

~ ~ Lookie where my friends Jeff (college friend who is in NYC now--boy will he be glad to see 70 degrees instead of snow!), Angela (best friend from tenth grade, since we were both 14, if you can believe that?), and I are going to dinner tonight? Kozy's is the coolest restaurant! It's kinda extravagant, but when we went there in college we basically went to listen to the piano player, eat appetizers (their stuffed mushroom and brie are excellent!), have great "college" conversation (you know what I mean), drink their delicious Frozen Toasted Almonds (oh yeah, getting one of those tonight!), and laugh our heads off! Such wonderful memories there, so I'm just so excited that we're meeting up there tonight.

One thing about time . . . it has to fly by and, of course, my life is rich in so many other ways now (wonderful husband, children, new and wonderful friends)--but there is something about that time in my life that will always be so special and dear to my heart. In some ways, I wouldn't want to go back (especially knowing some of the traumatic times that lay in the pretty-near future); and in other ways, I would love to go back! Such carefree moments and joyful memories from those years! So...I'm SO looking forward to our visit!! Yay! (I would imagine that there would be updates here tomorrow! Ya think?)

It is now right after midnight, so it's officially Thursday and I can publish this little post. Nighty night... sleep tight! See ya soon!

Yay! I'm first! You know, we've had some bizarre weather here lately, too! You're the second person's blog I've seen that's had great weather lately! Although, I can't complain, it was 64 degrees here today, too. My husband said we had a thunderstorm last night!

I went to church tonight, too, for Ash Wednesday. It was an absolutely wonderful service. Lent is a great time of self discovery. Father Harry says, "you get out of it, what you put into it." So, this year, I'm truly gonna put more into it. Glad your service went well, too! :0)

Yes, the weather has been absolutely beautiful here too! I love it and it is nice to not have to go outside and freeze your butt off....although I need to freeze a little of mine off! Ha!

I love it when southern states people talk about it being cold as in 60 degrees and then it's lovely and warm just 10 degrees above that.
The rest of us huddle together like penguins in a blizzard :P

Your little Sydney sounds like a hoot. We've all been there haven't we? What a sweetie!

I am glad you're not giving up Blogging ACK!?

Idol was so good they saved it since the guys were so bad on tuesday. Melinda, and Jordin loved them, and of course the last one, Lakisha! She was amazing.

Okay... got my mom online which means I'm online too. Happily the computer and DSL install have gone well (so far, I'm just doing some configuration stuff now). I'm looking forward to hanging out for a couple of days. I'm not all that thrilled with the 70s. I do like my cold weather, although this is pretty pleasant.

Most unpleasant thing of the trip thus far, which I will blog in much more detail on over on my blog space is that Avis gave me a huge SUV/minivan thing (they were out of cars, how does that happen?). It's the biggest thing I've ever driven... it's seats 7. Ugh!

See you tonight Cheryl!

Hi Cheryl,

Wow. I can't believe McKenna gave up myspace for lent. That really is a big sacrifice but I guess that what giving something up for Lent is supposed to be.

And I wouldn't leave the living room when American Idol is on if my hair was on fire, I'm that crazy about it. I really am. :-)

I'll bet you're really looking forward to spending time with your friends. It sounds like such fun.
I've been thinking about Lent too - not something I have ever been taught. But I think this year I'd like to do something too. I believe it is something the Lord would have me do. Good going McKenna!!

Your trip sounds great! I know what you mean..those days will always hold a special place.
Congrats to McKenna for giving up MySpace! Not sure what I will do, but I like your idea of "taking up" something healthy like walking 3 days a week. Might steal that idea!

Ms. L--The flowers are pretty, aren't they? And they were arranged so cool; they were in Frappucino bottles and then set in the 6-pack paper holder. I loved how it looked!
Linda--Lent really is a great time of year to get things "in order" in your relationship with God. I would challenge you to at least try it!
Jolene--Thanks about anything!! Just got back from my night out with friends and we had such a great time!!!
Kayla--I think that McKenna is braver than I am! I really hope I can stick with the walking. It would be a great habit to get into!
