On Tour with Cheryl....

(If only I had groupies and tour t-shirts!! LOL)

I've got some exciting activities coming up soon that I thought some of you might be interested in knowing more about! I will be doing several writing workshops and scrapbooking classes around the state; I would love to see some of you at these events and can give you additional information if you need it (just email me at cherylwrit@aol.com).

These are the classes and workshops I'll be doing soon...

Scrapbooking--

"Felt, Fabric, Ric-rac, and Ribbon"

Saturday, Sept. 15,
10:00-12:00

Have you ever wondered how to incorporate these fun materials on your scrapbook pages? Do you wish you could add more texture to your projects? Then this class is for you! We will have SO much fun as we make a School Days mini album using felt, fabric, ric-rac, and ribbons. We will be using some of the cutestl new Rusty Pickle products on the album and will bind the album for you in store. I am working on my album for the class, and I plan on posting some pictures of it here on my blog tomorrow (crossing my fingers I can get it done!) or this weekend for sure! This would be great for school pictures of your children over the years; school pictures from the past year; or as a blank album to put this year's pictures in; or maybe even to use of old pictures from your school days (which I think I'm going to do!)

"Fast and Easy Scrapbook Pages"
Saturday, Oct. 13
(I still haven’t set the time, but it will probably be either at
11:00 or 1:00)

Do you ever feel like you are just running in circles with all of your scrapbook projects? If so (and who doesn't?), then you need to come to this class and learn how to make fast, easy (and beautiful!) scrapbook pages! I will teach you some basic page designs that you can use over and over again and you will learn a lot of time-saving tips. Best of all, we will complete THREE page layouts while we're in class!! I will be doing my three layouts for this class next week, so I will be showing pics of them on the blog then!

I really LOVE to get together with other scrapbookers and share some of my techniques and spend some time working on pages. I would LOVE to meet some of you who live in the area, and who may have never come to a class! Just let me know here or email me and let me know you want to come. Or you can call India at the store to let her know!

By the way…check out the Scrapbook Mania website and blog; you can find out what’s going on in the store and in classes!

(And oh…the classes are both $15 plus materials.)

Now... I am also SO excited because I also just thrive on talking with aspiring writers who want to get published! I have a couple of writing classes and workshops planned and I would love to have some of you come to them!

Writing--

Breeze Hill Writing Retreats: Writing for Magazines
October 27
9:004:00
Northport, Alabama

Join me as we talk about what it takes to get published in magazines! This is a wonderful workshop opportunity, with lots of practical instruction and hands-on writing time. Some of the topics I will cover include—coming up with article ideas, writing query letters, finding markets, constructing an article, and much more! It’s held at Breeze Hill estate, which is actually my parents’ home that they use for writing workshops and other events throughout the year. You can find out more about the location at their Breeze Hill site.

The workshop is just $40 and includes lunch and refreshments. (If you are coming from out of town, there are plenty of hotels in the area that we can help you find!) We limit these workshops to just 12 attendees, so let me know if you might be interested!

Alabama Writers Conclave--Nonfiction Writing
July 18-20, 2008
(this is a Friday-Sunday)

This is a bit far in advance, but I was so excited a few weeks ago to get the invitation to be the Nonfiction Writing Instructor for the 2008 workshop. It will be held in Tuscaloosa this year and I will be teaching three one-hour classes and will also have critique sessions with a select number of participants. If you wan to find out more about the Conclave, go HERE.

One of my very favorite things in life is to teach and encourage, and two of my favorite topics are scrapbooking and writing. So…you can see that I am really looking forward to all of these events coming up!

(And.. if you will allow me to “sell” myself for just a few more minutes…if any of you should ever need a speaker/instructor on either scrapbooking or writing to come to your group, let me know. I can easily set up classes on a wide variety of topics and techniques!)

Thanks for indulging me this morning in all of this Me talk. I have just met so many scrapbooking and writing friends via this blog, that I knew I had to share with all of you!

I hope all of you have a wonderful Thursday! We are all trying to stay cool in this crazy Alabama heat (we are supposed to break ANOTHER record today, if it makes it to the 105 they’re predicting)!

Ciao!

You have no idea how much I wish I lived in Alabama! Or close by. I will just have to fly there for one of your writer's seminars some time soon! :) Hope you'll be doing them again in 2008...unfortunately October this year is pretty hectic already with two trips one for work and one for fun.
