A Perfectly Perfect Sports Weekend!!
(& a Pile of Pictures!!)

~ Hueytown High School (McKenna's school) won Friday night 63-0 (wow!)
~ The Birmingham Mustangs (Delaney's travel ball team) went undefeated in their first tournament of the season and won the tournament! (yay!)
~ My Alabama Crimson Tide won their game on Saturday night against Arkansas. A monumentally emotional roller-coaster of a football game (we were ahead by 21 points at two different times in the game, lost the leads, let Arkansas get ahead by a touchdown, came back to win on a final drive with around 2 minutes to play and scored the winning touchdown with 8 seconds to go!). The atmosphere at Bryant-Denny Stadium was electric and oh so LOUD!! Right now, on Sunday night, I still have a pile of adrenaline running through me, in fact!
~ Texas won. Auburn lost. Notre Dame lost. Tennessee lost.
~ The Dallas Cowboys won on Sunday.

And now, how about a PILE of pictures from the weekend? Because you know I can't let a Monday morning post go by without sharing my weekend via pictures!

To start off, here are a few pictures from the tourmanent Saturday with Delaney's travel ball team. We are getting to used to the new uniform and colors (we've been purple and gold forever!), but I think we're gonna like them.

(that ball went into centerfield!)

We were really proud of the girls and did great for their first time to play in the Fall season. They showed their great skills at defense (Delaney made an AWESOME back-handed stop at second base that I really thought she had NO chance to stop; but she got it, then turned around on the ground and threw out the girl at first base) and got some good hits. In the final game, they came back from 0-2 to win 8-3. Good job girls!

Then, I have a TON of pictures from the Bama game. We even took the good camera into the stadium with us and got some newspaper-worthy action shots.

Gary and I as we get ready to head out...

Sydney showed her team colors...

As did McKenna...(you can't really see it too well, but she has an "A" painted on her cheek)

Heading toward The Strip (the main road through campus, that takes you to the stadium!)...

The sea of crimson-clad fans...

The guys warming up (I requested this picture after Gary took about a million pictures of the majorettes! lol) . . .

The pregame festivities...

We had to battle #5 ALL night long! Darren McFadden--the frontrunner for the Heisman--was amazing and we had to learn to stop him. It was hard because he'd find these holes in the defense and just pull everyone with him. He is just SO stong...

But every once in a while we'd get lucky and bring him down...

A reception by DJ Hall in the first half (he had three of these long receptions and became Bama's all-time leader in receiving yards during this game!)...

Celebrating a touchdown...

A HUGE 3rd down reception that kept our last drive going, now near midfield...

Then it became the John Parker Wilson-to Matt Caddell show. Here's Caddell catching one of the passes on the last drive (he ended up catching the final pass for the winning touchdown!)...

Coach Saban leaving the field...

If you want to re-live that all over again (and cmon, now, I'm sure that SOME of you do!! ha ha!!), go and see the game-winning touchdown catch on video at ESPN.com, where they sponsor the Game Changing Performance of the Week contest each week during football season. You can see all four nominees from Saturday (they're all pretty good, I have to say!). Alabama's winning catch is the video at the lower right. Go HERE to see it!!

And then just to show you that this weekend wasn't COMPLETELY about sports!! LOL On Sunday I actually got up and went to church and then for the afternoon we went over to Gary's parents' house and had a WONDERFUL time celebrating Larry's retirement. We had absolutely delicious steaks, baked potatoes, salad, and a retirement cake. Of course, Sydney had to sit in her Pawpaw's lap and try the frosting...

I hope all of you had a WONDERFUL weekend and I promise not to talk too much about sports for the rest of this week. (Sorry to all of you non-football fans for today's crazy post!!)

See ya soon!!

I swear, I'm just gonna have to become an Alabama fan!!! LOL Glad you had so much fun and that things went your way. The girls look like they were all into it right along with mom. That is awesome. When I was a kid, my mom and little brother were the sports fans in our house and my mom knew more about football then most coaches. She was totally a hoot. She actually got kicked off the entire little league field for a whole season because she kept getting on the field arguing with the refs. OMG....

Whoweeeee it still looks really hot over there with you right now you lucky people. That would sure help draw the crowds out to the various games that you attended over the weekend :-)
Yeah the new coloured strip for Delaney's team will take some getting used to but in about 30 years time D will be saying exactly the same thing to her kids when the next new strip arrives lolol.
Congrats to your father-in-law on his retirement. I wish him a long and happy one.

Nice new profile pic and I take it that Adrienne isn't a Bama fan?

Awesome pictures of the Bama game...a great one of DJ! I'm so glad I'm not the only one who takes pictures of the pregame warmups. I just think it's so funny to see them doing all those exercises in sync.

I absolutely love Syndey's short hair...it is just SO cute!

Congrats to your team. I'm an Arkie by birth and a hogs fan. It was an intense and awesome game. It's never over 'till it's over is it!?

Dawn--LOl You have NO idea how many pictures we took this weekend? I put just a couple of them here for you guys and gals!!! :-)

Marg--It was very exciting!!

King--It's actually finally starting to get a little bit cooler, but it's very nice. Still up around 90 during the day, but down in the 80s during the game. VERY nice!!! Thanks about the pic. I was getting tired of the one I had, but I never can find a good one of me I like. This was about the best I could find! And, no, Adrienne doesn't like Alabama. I don't know what she's thinking!!!!

Mandy--We took pictures of EVERYTHING and I did take a lot of the warm-ups. Got some really good ones of JP, Andre, and a lot of the guys. Gary was taking so many pictures of majorettes that I told him I needed some pictures of the guys' butts!! lol

Crazy--That game shows you that it's never really over until the time has run out!!

Girl! Your are obsessed! ROFL!

This coming from a girl that doesn't give one hoot about sports! My husband knows how to get rid of me in a heartbeat. Just turn on a game!

I like them even less now that I have to stand in the kitchen cooking for hours so that he has all of his "snacks" that are a prerequisite to watching the game. I swear I was in the kitchen half the day on Sunday.

It looks like you all had a wonderful weekend though! Glad your teams won!

Sounds like an awesome weekend!!! Winners all the way around! Love all the great photos! The most important thing is Texas won and so did the Cowboys! Woohoo! It'd take me 2 weeks to do everything you did in one weekend! LOL!! Love your new avatar photo! I'm off to visit Gary.
