Weekend Plans!!

It's almost midnight here on Friday night and McKenna just arrived home from the high school football game. It was a game almost an hour away, so I was Bad Band Mom and let her go by herself on the bus (we go to all the home games and pretty much all of the away games, unless it's too far to drive) with the Color Guard. (I enjoyed my night off from hs football by enjoying a margarita, cheese dip, and burritos with two of my best girlfriends. That was a GOOD alternate plan!) McKenna was excited when she got home, because we won 63-0. It looks like it was a case of us looking really good and the other team being really bad. Either way, it's good and we're now 3-0! Next Friday will be our hardest test of the season, against probably the best team in our region.

And now...what are my plans for the rest of the weekend?

It pretty much ALL revolves around sports! And you know how that makes me feel!!

We start off tomorrow morning with the first tournament of the Fall season with Delaney's new softball travel team. You'll remember that just over a month ago we were playing in a Nationals tournament with the Birmingham Thunderbolts. Well, we moved up an age to play 12&under (the ball is slightly bigger and it's a longer distance to the bases) and have moved to a team called the Birmingham Mustangs. The teams consists pretty much of our team from last year; we just simply moved as a team to a new organization. So, the girls (and the parents!) all know and like each other. We are excited to see how we do tomorrow!

Then, after that Gary and I will get ready to go to the Alabama vs. Arkansas game!!!! We are BEYOND excited, but I'm also quite nervous. It's our first true test of the season, after we had two big wins over weaker opponents. While LSU looks like they'll be the strongest team in the Western division of the SEC, we and Arkansas will probably compete right behind them. If we can get a win tomorrow, it will be a BIG deal. But it won't be easy! Arkansas has the Heisman Trophy front-runner and it will be a challenge to stop him!

But I believe in my Crimson Tide!

I will be dressed in my crimson gear, houndstooth cap, Bama crocs, and Big Al earrings. I will yell ROLL TIDE for hours on end and LOVE being in the electric environment of my favorite college anywhere (I got two degrees from there and got married on the campus, after all!)

(A fun sidenote to the game tomorrow is that I grew up as an Arkansas fan! My Dad was a professor at the University of Arkansas and most of my growing-up years were done there. I went to elementary and junior high school in Fayetteville and was raised yellling "Woo Pig Sooie." I even wore one of those crazy plastic hog hats! So...Arkansas is my second-favorite SEC team and I will cheer for them on any other day! But tomorrow? I am ready to kick some Hog Butt! LOL)

I hope all of you have a wonderful Saturday and rest of the weekend! May all of your favorite teams win (unless it's Arkansas)!!

ROLL TIDE!!!!!!

Wow-you have brought back some of my best memories of being team mom with the color guard. I was team mom and I rode to all the away games on the bus.

PHEW Cheryl that was CLOSE! I watched it what a great game, I have to say though that Pass Intereference call on Arkansas was bogus once you saw the replay, still I am glad you all won, and I looked for you!! :)

OH GUYS YOU CANNOT BELIEVE HOW EXCITING THAT GAME WAS!
The emotions were just so up-and-down. We were smearing them, then Darren McF put it in high gear and brought them back. Then it was tied, then they went ahead, then we held them, then we won. It was just WILD!!!
Had amazing fun at the game. Roll Tide!!!
(Will post the updates later on with more details!! AND...Delaney's team went undefeated today too and D played great!!)

Can you believe that my hubby and I turned the game off when there was about 3 mins left? I just couldn't bear to watch them lose. How crazy!! Plenty can happen in the last minutes of a game! I know this!! And missed the best part! Roll Tide!

I'm not so into the football as you, but it's fun to see your enthusiasm. :) Also, I loved your "alternate plan" on Friday night. I'm all about the margs and girlfriends.

Alas, my CU Buffs couldn't hold off Florida State.

The girls look great and I love that they are so athletic. I hope that my girls will take a little of that from me and also be into sports. So far, it's not happening.... but then again, they are only 3 and 5. There's hope yet!!

ROLL TIDE!!! (spoken from an Alabama native!!!) Crimson Tide CROCS??! Oh MY!!! Is it that they're crimson or are they actually Stamped Crimson Tide??!! How very cool is that?!
