That's why I said "I do" . ..

So last night, the girls and I decided to head across town to a Kmart that I thought might have some good Halloween costumes in stock (I decided this year NOT to wait until the week before Halloween and not be able to find anything the girls and I want).

We were having an outstanding time looking through all the cute decorations and accessories (and...very good, and surprising, news was that we found all the costumes for our family. Sydney is Kim Possible--she has been VERY adament that she was going to be KP and nothing was wavering her from that so, thank goodness!, we found a costume that will work--Delaney is Lola from "Hannah Montana" complete with a pink wig, McKenna is a retro witch, I am Little Red Riding Hood, and Gary is the Big Bad Wolf. Yes, Gary and I ALWAYS dress up in matching costumes. It's one of our fun traditions!) And, yes, you have a lot of fun photo posts to look forward to with those costumes! (Whether you want to or not! lol)

So, there we were having a good time, with bags in hand after a successful shopping trip. As I walked out to the car and rummaged through my purse, I realized that my fingers were not finding jingling car keys. And, yep, when we got to the car, there were my keys--sitting in the front seat. Feeling extremely frustrated, I really didn't want to call Gary and tell him what I'd done. But, well, what else could I do? I didn't have a spare, I'm not an expert in breaking into cars, and I personally didn't feel comfortable asking a stranger to help us. So, I called Gary.

And Gary was the sweet, sweet husband that I needed him to be. He left our side of town and made it to the store, even though he had to fight traffic and it took him close to 45 minutes. After an hour of help from two friendly strangers in the parking lot, we got the car open. And the entire time, Gary did it with a smile on his face.

Thank you, Gary, for being such a sweet hubby last night. Thank you also for those little moments in the past week.... sharing a bottle of wine with me, staying up late and watching our DVR-ed shows together, calling me "sweetie," and just generally making me feel loved.

All of you married folks can totally relate to me, I'm sure. There are days and weeks when you can just get sorta frustrated with your spouse; there are some days where I feel like we are just going through the motions. But it always comes back around. And I always know that I have someone there who supports me always and loves me no matter what.

So...let's stop the drivel, I guess, and talk about what's going on this weekend. LOL

We have a busy weekend planned, as usual! To start it off, tonight is a BIG game for our high school football team. We are 6-0 and ranked #8 in the state, and we are playing a 6-0 rival that is ranked #4. The team we're playing also happens to be my alma mater from about an hour away. It's always fun when McKenna's team (and now MY team) plays my old team. It's going to be a very difficult game, but out litlte community is so pumped up about it. Our stadium holds 11,000 and I anticipate that every seat will be full!! Go Hueytown!

Tomorrow, Alabama plays Ole Miss at 11:30 and I will be listening to the the second half of the game while I teach a scrapbook class at my local store. Roll Tide!!!!

Tomorrow also, Delaney will be playing in a softball tournament and I will be running around to try and get to all of the games. The tournament is about 45 minutes away from here and, depending on when her games are scheduled and when my class is over, I will definitely try and get to her games. Go Delaney!

Perhaps the best part of the weekend ahead is the GORGEOUS weather we are having! It's actually supposd to only get up to 75 degrees today and it is just heavenly! The football game should be in the 50s tonight; that's what I call some football weather! I just love it when it feels like this! (Except for it's doing disastrous things to my throat and sinuses. I currently sound like Lauren Bacall, or someone whose smoked too many cigs over the years. Very hoarse!)

What is on your schedule for the weekend? I hope it's a GREAT one!!!

As I leave...here's a fave song right now. Kinda how I feel about that husband of mine.

I know what you mean by waiting until the last minute. Last year, Clayton had to wear Superman PJs because we couldn't find a Spiderman costume. I bought his costume about 3 weeks ago!

Wisconsin is coming to town to play Penn State. We won't go, Pete is out of town hunting so we might go to a local farm for an Applefest.

I'm with you. It's the fact that you can "survive" those days when you really can't stand your husband. And then you love him even more.

Hey, great weekend plans you have, and btw, love the drivel nonsense. Yes we all go through the motions sometimes but they do come back around. thanks for you share on my blog about the dove commercial. My girls are both thin and gorgeous....and they have both fought self-esteem issues because of what we see on tv and in magazines. Not long ago, I heard a friend of ours who is 30 (and very attractive) make the comment that they should ban womens magazines because it was so unreal and women need to be themselves. His lovely wife is "hippy" and he totally loves it. It's not just us girls fed up with this, some men too. I high five any guy who helps to bring this message to his daughters, wife, whatever. Thanks for forwarding it to McKenna. And thanks so much for visiting Allisons site to see that.

My weekend, getting ready to go out of town on business for a week (all by myself) and not looking forward to it but a necessity.

Love and hugs girl - have a fab softball game.

I Love that Sydney is going as Kim Possible! I love that show. I trust you will post pictures (I actually know that you will, but I just watned to say now that I want to see them).

Weekend: Two of my hockey teams start up their season this weekend, so I'll be playing a couple times Saturday night. I've got some work to do on Cool Cinema Trash for Will. And we've got some DVR catch up from Wednesday and Thursday night to do (Pushing Daises, Dirty Sexy Money, Smallville and Supernatural). Plus the subways are working well this weekend, so we'll get out of our hood and enjoy the fall weather that has finally shown up.

You're so right about loving our hubbies. This week I've been in the grrrrrrrr mode, but I do know that I am blessed. Have fun listening to that game! I don't have a favorite college team, but I love the excitement of college football on Saturdays. We always have a game on at our house and it's nice to not be cheering for anyone in particular.

Kristen and I are going as Papa Smurf and Smurfette, no pictures will be posted I am guarenteeing that.

My weekend consists of being nervous over our game in the big house and that's about it!

That is so nice, Cheryl. Thanks for sharing. I guess the rest of us will continue to dream, tolerate,???...it's so hard when the marriage and people in it grow apart rather than together, despite best efforts of one...it takes two, and congratulations on making that happen!
