Happy Monday!

We spent most of Saturday at a tournament with Delaney's softball team, and it did not go as planned! (lol) We always plan to win these tournaments, come in first place, play great, etc., but as someone once said, "The best laid plans of mice and men..."

Nope, we didn't win, didn't come in second place, didn't even make it to the semifinals. In fact, we only won one of the three games we had (and lost in the first game of the elimination round). What was frustrating was that all of the teams we played were very beatable; we just couldn't hit the ball. But....the bright side is that in the five tournaments we've been in, we've come in first place three times and in second place once. And...we got to come home early on Saturday, instead of trudging in at 11 pm after an hour-and-a-half drive home! (That's looking at the positives, isn't it? :-)

Of course, I got some pictures of the day and thought I'd share a few of them.

My FAVORITES of the day were of Sydney entertaining herself and with her friends. (She LOVES to go to tournaments, because she literally plays non-stop all day long! She is so dirty and tired by the end of the day, but it's a good dirty and tired!)

She and some of the other younger girls decided they could make a tent out of umbrellas...

And then how about one of Delaney looking happy in the dugout (she didn't always look happy during the day...she is a little bit competitive and really doesn't enjoy losing... you should have seen her face when she hit a pop fly on a first pitch and the other team, of course, caught it...! lol)?

And this picture makes me smile. First off, because you can see the smiles on the girls' faces and most-of-all because you can see how small Delaney is compared to the rest of the team (some of the girls are close in size, but she is clearly the smallest. And our pitchers are TALL!! you can see two of them there! They call Delaney Shortcake, Midget, and all sorts of nicknames. She just laughs with them, then goes out and tries to play like someone a foot taller!)

Now...what's going on this week?

I don't really have a lot of exciting things planned...unless you count washing clothes, writing and submitting two articles, taking Scout to dance class, waiting to hear if Delaney made the school volleyball team, worrying about McKenna driving, writing some poetry, planning a Cinco de Mayo dinner with girlfriends, and eagerly waiting for "Lost" to get here exciting??? Actually...that sounds like a PRETTY GOOD week up ahead!! LOL

So, how was your weekend? Did you do anything exciting? And what's up ahead for you in the next week?

Hi Cheryl,

You always have really busy weekends - I remember marching band competitions and dance competitions. I thought I'd have sooo much free time when that ended. But No!!!

I've had a crazy week and have to catch up with everybody.

That is one of the things I like about you, you make a positive out of anything. That's the way to do it Cheryl and you set a great example for your girls as well!

We took in UA baseball games this weekend. Not to much else 'cause we all have the sniffles. Yuck!

A fun weekend coming up...NSD! No scrapbook store in T-town anymore so I may drive up to Bham.
