Some Scrappy Creations
(including two really fun challenges...ScrapHappy & OLW)

I had a BLAST doing these first two scrapbook pages, and thought I'd share them with you all! The first is from Lain's awesomely-inspiring blog; she is with Simple Scrapbooks magazine and posts challenges each week from her blog. This week's challenge was to do a page using at least: one photo of yourself, buttons, ribbon, and bling. As soon as I read that, I was ALL OVER IT! (And, oh yeah... it had to be a page you could complete in 30 minutes!!! And my page looks more complicated than it is. Just alphabet stickers, glued down ribbon and buttons, and then the journaling. It took right at about 25 minutes, once I had my idea formulated!)

I looked everywhere for a really good recent picture of me and thought of some different concepts for a page...when I realized that I wanted, instead, to use a picture of me as a child. And that the page concept would be what I would tell my child-self based on what I know now.

The "note to myself" is this journaling:

"What would I tell the 6-year-old Cheryl in this picture? I'd tell her to treasure those wonderful parents you have, read all those books and climb all those trees, sing those songs and write those stories, show that sensitive side, and befriend those friends, but also...step out of that comfort zone, don't be so afraid of heights, take a chance, and dream some big dreams. I would say, 'Cheryl, before you know it you'll be almost 40. So, enjoy that childhood...and be excited in the knowledge that you have a wonderful future filled with love and joy."

THAT right there is why I love scrapbooking!!

And then I tried the challenge this week from the One Little Word challenge. They pick a word each week and you have to make something using that word. The word this time around was BLESSED, and this is what I came up with for it.

The title says "Way 2 Blessed" and the journaling pretty much covers up the whole page. It basically tells how I think it is so important to stop worrying about what you don't have and instead stop, take a deep breath, open your eyes, and realize how very much you have right in front of you! When you do that, you will realize that not only are you blessed...you are WAY blessed!

And then here are some other pages I've done in the last week or so.

I really like this one (because, obviously...look at that cool paper!!!) because of the meaning behind it. Delaney recently interviewed her Gan Gan (Gary's grandmother) for Social Studies class about her memories of World War 2.

And one with Sydney all glammed-up in her dance recital costume. (By the way, this one and the one before it are layouts I did for last month's kit at Scrapbook Mania.)

And one of McKenna at her recent Winter Guard competition. Two things of note here--the patterned paper is from the Dollar Tree (!!!) and I have started doing more 8 1/2 x 11 pages. I really like this size and my new concept for scrapbooks is using 3-ring albums so that I can put different sized pages in the same book. I LOVE that idea (I will have to share my new organizational idea and pictures of my books with you sometime soon!)!!

And, finally, one I did using two of my favorite pictures from Easter. At our church's Easter egg hunt, they had a "golden egg" that earned an extra door prize for the kid that found it. Of course, Sydney found it (look at the expression on her face in the second pic!).

Have a WONDERFUL rest of this Wednesday and tomorrow. I'm off to go to a Bama baseball game! (The weather is beautiful, so we're off to make some memories!)

Love the layouts! We were just in Scrapbook Mania last weekend.

You picked the wrong game to go to, LOL. We beat UAB on Tuesday night. Did you jinx us? :)

We started to drive up to Hoover last night but didn't make. You should drive down one weekend to T-town and come to a home game. We have a blast!

I love the Note to Yourself! There was a blog thing going around a while back where people were writing notes to their child selves. This is a much more beautiful way to do it.
