April is gone,
May has come....
and time keeps rolling on

(First off, I'm sorry for not getting to all of your blogs in the last day or two. Yesterday just completely wore me out. It was a GOOD wore out with lots of fun stuff going on, but I was busy from the moment I got up until the moment I finally dropped into bed. Delaney had a track meet during the day--she finished third in the mile run--then I had to cook supper at church last night. McKenna is trying out for a prestigious honor at school and had an interview in the afternoon. And in between all of that, I had to get two articles written and turned in. So, a busy day! But maybe now I will settle down for at least a day or two.)

Today is May 1st, and I can really hardly believe it! Time just seems to go by faster and faster with each year, and it's hard for me to believe that school is almost out and Summer is upon us!

But...I'm not one to dwell on the past (or wish that we were still stuck in March or April, which I do kinda wish anyway!)...so I'm looking forward to May with ANTICIPATION!

There is a lot to look forward to in May.

Today is May Day, which I'm not really too sure about. I think it involves dancing around a May Pole and I'm sure it has something to do with the arrival of Spring. (Have any of you ever celebrated it? I'd love to know any details!)

May 3 is National Scrapbook Day. I don't have big plans, but I will get together with a few friends and scrapbook. And maybe treat myself to something new. I really want THIS.

May 5 is Cinco de Mayo. There WILL be margaritas shared between friends this weekend!

May 11 is Mother's Day, which is always a very special day in our family. It's special because of spending time with my own, awesome Mom, but also because Gary and the girls always treat me like a queen

May 31 is Memorial Day, which is always a great excuse for a barbecue. Yum!!

But, did you also know that we can all celebrate these days as well?

International No Diet Day
is May 6 (sounds like MY kind of celebration!)

No Socks Day is May 8 (well, I do pretty much go everywhere barefoot! My shoes are usually kicked off at restaurants, in church, and while driving!)

Dance Like a Chicken Day is May 14 (oh, good!! another day to embarrass my girls!)

Chocolate Chip Day is May 15 (like I NEED a reason to eat another chocolate chip cookie!)

Blueberry Cheesecake Day is May 26 (ditto on the comment I just made about chocolate chip cookies)

And if those weren't enough, May is also

National Flower Month

National Photo Month

(my fave photo from yesterday... Delaney after her mile run. She was SO tired!!! lol)

and
National Strawberry Month

Those ALL sound like good reasons to celebrate, don't you think?

And then, I've got A LOT of things to look forward to personally during the month of may.

We will be...

~ Getting our season passes to our local amusement park (it just opened for the weekends and the girls are already hankering to go ride the roller coaster)

~Having Delaney's confirmation celebration

~ Watching Sydney perform in her first-ever dance recital

~ Going to see the new "Indiana Jones" movie. (I CANNOT wait and was really hoping to make it a date night event with Gary, but now the girls sound like they want to go. But...only if they watch all three of the first movies first!)

(I **heart** Harrison Ford in a BIG way!)

~ Celebrating my brother Christopher's birthday

~ Playing more softball (after a break this coming weekend, we are playing non-stop!)

~ Celebrating the End of School.

And then there are a lot of those LITTLE, simple things that are on my "39 things to do before I turn 40" list that I want to do. (This month, I'm going to-- make homemade donuts, plant some flowers, interview Gan Gan, and try Indian food!!!)

Wow!!! I'm really kinda stoked just thinking about all the fun to be had!!!!!

Happy May Day!! Today, being Thursday, is my morning coffee with the "Loser Housewives". When I came home, there was a lovely may basket sitting on my back stoop. I'll put a picture of it on my blog later today or tomorrow.

Thanks for the great idea for my next blog: Things to look forward to in May. I have many, many.

AND, I prayed at 11 today - my turn on the church prayer vigil.

See you later.

Wow you have alot of stuff lined up and May is a chock-full month isn't it!
May Day, for us it always meant making little baskets filling them with flowers and hanging them on someone's door as a surprise.
May 17th is Maddie's first recital too - I can't wait!
Read Delaney's good news on Gary's blog. CONGRATS! Y'all have so many good things going on around there. What is McKenna auditioning for??? Can you blog about it soon? Hope so!
