Weekend "Smile" Awards
Lots of reasons to smile during this busy weekend.
Watching McKenna perform at halftime. Being on campus. Seeing Bama win. Watching Delaney play volleyball. Watching Sydney "learn" to play volleyball. Western Kentucky's "Big Red Blog." Buttery movie popcorn.
But I digress, and get ahead of myself.
Let me backtrack for a moment.
We had a wonderful weekend, full of all sorts of good stuff (mostly relating to football and more football, with a little bit of volleyball and some Sunday afternoon napping and movie popcorn thrown in for good measure).
Here then, in photo form, are some things that put a smile on my face this weekend.
High School Football...
(McKenna's the first girl coming around.)
(yep, Delaney makes us proud! lol)
Delaney's Volleyball Matches...
Sydney Watching the Match...
and getting an impromptu lesson from some sweet girls...
The Alabama Football Game...
(McKenna went with me and we had a blast!!!)
The Western Kentucky Big Red mascot...
(that's him down with the cheerleaders and we got the biggest kick out of him. We had two WKU students sit next to us and they tried to explain him to us. We just thought he kinda looked like the Shmoo or a red version of McDonald's Gremlin!)
Being on Campus...
(that's the antembellum home where Gary and I got married)
Catching this "washing off" tradition...
(As we were leaving campus, we caught a bunch of the "body painters" washing off in the fountain by the student rec center. We thought it was too funny!)
Also on the list (but without photo evidence) would be...
Relaxing Sunday afternoon after church (I was a bad Mom, but I didn't go watch Delaney's softball matches. The rest of us were officially "pooped," so Gary took her by himself); and Eating movie popcorn without actually going to a movie (Funny story...I drove some of the youth from our church to the movie theatre, but didn't really have the time to stay and watch it. While they stayed, I went and grocery shopped. But then I got back to the theatre with an hour to spare, so what did I do? I went in and bought me a big ole bag of buttery popcorn, went back to the car and listened to football on the radio (yep, more football!) while I ate that popcorn. It was good!!)
I'd love to hear how your weekend went.
What made you smile?

Awwww Glad you guys had fun! I saw McK this morning. I don't think she saw me though lol.
We had a pretty good weekend. Went to dinner and a movie NO kids :-) that made me smile lol
At least you all won! Your daughter looks like you for sure. I love the topper!! I actually have a friend that cheers for WKU I wonder if she was there.
My weekend was draining. I lost my voice at the Purdue game, we lost to a team we had beat in typical Boiler fashion, now time to regroup. I hate monday'sp
Sound like a real good weekend!!! Great photos you've got!
We had a wonderful weekend, very warm... humid actually.. What made me smile... ha, seeing my DH holding the six weeks old son of our friends.... singing Dutch lullabies... yep, that really made me smile... And brought back such good memories!
Adrienne--Eating out with no kids is always a reason to smile!! LOL
Phats--I HATED that the Purdue game turned out the way it did. What a heartbreaker!!!!! Go get em next week!!
Marjolein--Sounds like a great weekend! Don't you love men holding sweet little babies?
things that made me smile this weekend....getting all my grocery shopping, clothes shopping, yep bought myself some things, laundry, housecleaning and chores done on Saturday...but no scrapping..I was pooped.
Going to dinner with Shawna on Sunday evening, watching a chic flick (me OMG I never watch those) with Shawna Sunday while spread out on her bed with the dogs snuggled in. Going to bed with a smile knowing I have such a great life. Love and hugs...thanks for the comment on my blog...It is sad. But you are so right, blogging brings so many people together.
Sounds like a great weekend...I didn't like the fact that the bama game wasn't on tv. I am ready to watch some bama football. I couldn't even get it on the radio...it would't pick up! But I am happy I will have one to watch on my birthday next Saturday! Roll Tide!
Hee hee I love that you had popcorn without the movie!
You had a wonderful weekend.
I like reading about your adventures!
Going to the dump and finding most of the wood for our playhouse made me smile this weekend! My hubs also found 2 bucks! It's like the dump paid US,lol
Ooooh and chatting on my bed with my 15 year old boy, that was pretty special too:)
I'm so jealous you got to go to the game! It was definitly the better game out of the two home game weekends!! We watched it on pay-per-view, though. It was great! Glad you had a great weekend! Nothing like spending time with family.
You do know Cheryl, that you are allowed to be "pooped" sometimes........right?
Miss you!
I love the title of this post!!
What made me smile this wknd was spending time with my family.
OH and the Bills winning!
My week-end was essentially quiet. I wish I lived in a decent community like you, it's worth your life to not get shot at a highschool football game around here!
So much fun spilling through these photos Cheryl...I'm telling you, everytime I come in here, the word "coolness" crosses my mind! :D Love that we have so much in common! Maybe some of your coolness will rub off on me, LOL. :D
I especially LOVE the pics of McKenna doing her flag stuff (you know what I mean, right?) She is a beautiful young lady who does, in fact, look like her mamma.
Your weekend sounds great. I LOVE theater popcorn. We go to the movies on Tuesdays because they give you "FREE" popcorn. Retirement is great!!!
~hippo hugs~
Pam
