The other day, Sydney and I were watching Delaney play in her first game with her middle school softball team and I made a comment something like, "Look at those girls hit the ball. Are you going to hit the ball like that this year on your team?" (Sydney's opening day of the Spring softball season is this Saturday, and she has been practicing a lot lately.)
Her answer was vintage Scout.
"I don't know, Mom. I'm not psychic."

Last night, I was grading papers on the living room couch when Sydney came down to see me. She was trying to pick up the big stack of papers and move them somewhere else, and I sorta got on to her about it. "Don't mess with those papers," I told her. "I'm working on them."
She looked at me with her "puppy dog" eyes and I moved them to the other side of me. She crawled up next to me on the couch, put her head on my shoulder, and asked,
"Aren't papers less important than little girls?"
(Yes they are, sweet girl. Thanks for the reminder.)

OMG, she is going to be your biggest challenge!!!! Too Cute, that kid!!
Agree with Lynilu, but so s.w.e.e.t! Boy, we do get "busy", don't we? It's easy to say, "be there in a minute!" many more times than I should. Sometimes, I need to just go. Be present.
ROFLOL! She is toooooooo cute! LOL
That is so darned cute!
Omygosh, omygosh! She is way to sweet!
You're going to have to write a book of Sydney-isms. She is priceless!
Lynilu--Yes, I think she is!! LOL I know that McKenna and Delaney said things like this too (they all do around age 4), but hers come out much more frequently. She keeps us entertained, that's for sure!
Gretchen--It was absolutely a good reminder to me.I gotta stop and be still and APPRECIATE it all!
Adrienne--Ain't she crazy!?
Anon--Yes, she is. :-)
Ms. L--She is something else!

Oh, i love the replies your daughter gave you. And yes, daughters are more important than paper.
Danielle--I know!!!
Hippo--So right. Sydney is always "setting me straight."
Yvonne--Sometimes we have to be reminded, though, don't we?
