I'm really getting sick of this rain, but it does do one good thing. It makes my flowers bloom...and gives me some good photo opportunities.
This morning, I got my first view of my Spiderworts and Irises, and enjoyed the vibrancy of one of our Dogwoods yet again...

April is National Poetry Month, and yesterday started the debut of the Poem-a-Day Challenge over at Writer's Digest's poetry blog. The blog author/poet posts a challenge each day and it's just a wonderful way to get some cool prompts for poems (if you're like me, you sometimes need a little nudge in the right direction). I don't really claim to be a "real" or even a "good" poet, but I love to pen a few lines every now and then.
Last year, I did each day's challenge...so, by the end of April, I had 30 original poems. Which was incredibly cool.
I started out well yesterday, completing the first day's challenge which was: Write an "origin" poem (of a thing, an event, anything...just talk about its beginning).
I won't bore you with my poems everyday, but I may pick and choose a few over the next month and share some of the ones I particularly like.
I did think I'd share with you the first day's, though, because I kinda like how it turned out.
This Mess We've Made
You created this mess to begin with,
when you
acted like your charming self,
gave me that wink,
and held onto me,
right there,
in the small of my back,
that first time we danced.
Don't blame me.
Don't pretend.
I didn't do this entirely on my own.
You were
(are)
a complicit conspirator
in this
beautiful mess
we've made.

Oh, I love that poem! Very nice, Cheryl!
Happy April to you for flowers and poetry!
What a great poem. Me? I stick to Haiku and/or the occasional limerick. I always appreciate good writing though. And I think you're great.
Awww...I so need to give this poem writing a go! Sooo need to. Loved yours! And those flower pics are AWESOME!
Love your poem!
Oh, I just love it. Poetry is way, way out of my comfort zone. I need to think about it a little.
You are so very talented.
The flowers are gorgeous. I should get home just about in time for ours to start blooming -- that it is if it isn't snowing!!
It's 82 here today, a wonderful day if the wind would just stop. The pollen count is out of this world and I am suffering. Nevertheless, I won't complain too much. I like it this warm air.
~hippo hugs~
I like you poem and the photos of the flowers. Our dogwoods have not started blooming yet, and I can't wait until they do..one of my faves.
Thanks for sharing,
Leslie
Came over from Pam's Ponderings.
It's so funny as the seasons change I get to used to blogs I read stating...I hate snow, when is it going to get warmer, when will this heat wave be over, I hate cleaning leaves....
I love everyone's opinion as even if I don't agree with it, I love that the diversity of our thoughts are what make the world go round.
I've recently been told that "I don't hate anything and I seem to love everything".
And I don't think it's that...I think it's more that I really do appreciate life. When I read other peoples blogs I realize that my life is really really good and I have nothing but appreciation for everything around me.
I realize without rain when would Baby C every get to splash around in the puddles, without snow how would she get to experience a snow man, without a heat wave when would she get to run through a sprinkler and without leaves how would I ever get shots of her falling in the leaves.
So I love it all!!!!!
Oh and like you said without rain how would your beautiful flowers grow!!! LOL
Lovely poem and lovely blooms! Remember: April Showers bring May's Flowers!
I had an Aunt who was a great poet. She could do funny poems, serious poems ... she made me a book for my tenth birthday and I still have it. Truly a treasure.
Hey Everyone--
Thanks for your sweet comments. I LOVE my flowers, although I wish I had time to do a lot more with my yard (I used to...but things are so busy now that I don't have the time to do it). And thanks for saying you like my poem. I know I'm not a great poet, but I do enjoy getting my thoughts and feelings down on paper that way. It's fun...so I appreciate you letting me share my creations with you.
