Well, this week has been good.
My eyes are feeling better..."Lost" was amazingly, mind-blowingly awesome...I ate my share of cupcakes...I actually enjoyed vacuuming with my new bagless vacuum cleaner (seriously, it's actually sorta fun to use!)...I bought a really cute outfit...
and now I'm off to see Delaney awarded several times over at her middle school awards ceremony...
But since none of those things really warranted an entire Friday blog post, I thought I might go back and share a few more of the poems I wrote for the Poem-a-Day Challenge I did throughout April. I wrote 30 poems (very proud of that!), and these are a few of the ones I liked.
Challenge: Write a love poem.
“love”
love can arrive,
announce itself
with words in the sky
in the tail plumage
of a plane.
love can enter,
declare itself
with
noise
cacophony,
trumpeting.
tapping the shoulder,
whispering hello
gentle
surprise party
Challenge: Write a "rebirth" poem.
“Rebirth”
I eat and drink
and do this
in remembrance.
every dusk,
every day,
it does its magic
(if I can call it that).
shrugs off the old coat,
closer,
nearer,
clearer,
I desire to be.
Challenge: Write a poem about either communication or miscommunication.
"Girl Talk"
Little white blooms.
into rings, bracelets, necklaces,
they giggled
and called each other
Princess.

Challenge: Write a poem starting with the word "never."
do I feel as
alive,
magical,
yet
real...
opening its silken petals
to the sun
receiving applause
from the children below
smiling, laughing
for no other reason
than just because)…
in this moment
(right here)
unfolds
on a piece of
paper.
Challenge: Write a poem about regret.
“No Regrets”
you get a different view.
the air
(and possibilities!)
alive,
close enough
to grasp.
I scream.
into the wind.
doing any sort of creative activity is good for your soul. Whether it's painting, or scrapbooking, or taking pictures, or building something, or writing a poem...it just gives you a special sense of wonderment as you create something out of nothing.
So, even though I'm not a "real" poet, I do appreciate letting me share my poetic creations with you. It's always a revelation to me, as I see where my imagination takes me sometime. (And I totally encourage you to try and write a poem. Even if you've never written one before, or you don't think anything you wrote would be good--that's not really the point. It's just the act of putting words together to express yourself. It's just a good thing!)

And now for something totally unrelated to anything I've already said.
Aren't these things the cutest? I think I'm going to have to throw a graduation party just so I can make these graduation hat cake pops. I seriously {heart} them...
(Yeah...another of my favorite forms of creativity is making cute stuff in the kitchen. It just makes me happy too!)
It's becoming quite late (or early, however you choose to think about it) on this early Friday morning (i.e., 1 a.m.), so let me stop here before my eyes completely close in front of the computer. I plan on having an excellent Friday and rest of the weekend...and I hope you do the same!

I hope you have a wonderful weekend! Sunday is my birthday, and I "think" we may go to a few of the local wineries, if the weather doesn't get too bad. YAY!
You say you're not a "real" poet, but I enjoy what you write. Don't downplay it. I think you do well. Do you ever check my poetry/writing blog? Just curious.
I love those little pops. Reese's Cups?
Kathy--That sounds like a PERFECT way to celebrate your birthday. You know how much I love wineries. I hope you have a GREAT day!!!
