When Rain Cancels a Softball Tournament...
it's time to take a little vacation!
As soon as we arrived in Georgia for Delaney's first travel softball tournament of the year, it promptly decided to start raining (no, let me correct that...it started STORMING) and never stopped! We hoped that by morning it would clear up enough to be able to have the tournament as scheduled, but we learned early in the morning that it had all been canceled.
What to do? Cancel Saturday's reservation and head home?
We quickly decided to keep the reservation and enjoy a little mini vacation instead. And without softball games to play and cheer at, we easily came up with other ways to entertain ourselves.
Like bed jumping...
(that's an early entry in the "classic" division, I believe!)
(thank goodness someone messed up the lighting on mine. My hair is crazy and I look 20 pounds heavier than I think I really am! LOLd)
Chattanooga was just 30 minutes away, so we headed into town and found fun water fountains...
posed for pictures...
played pool...
went to an IMAX movie...
(which just happened to be in 3-D)...
On Sunday, the rain cleared enough for us to go back out and explore the art district. (Delaney had fallen sick, so I went with just McKenna and Sydney--both of whom really love art.).
The Hunter Art Museum really has some wonderful exhibits, like this sculpture that looked like it was made of driftwood but was really made of brass...
well-known paintings by artists like Grandma Moses, Andy Warhol, and Mary Cassatt...
And paintings that weren't well-known, but were really beautiful nonetheless. I loved this one...
And Sydney and I studied this one for quite a while (Sydney loved the museum, in fact; she had to know what every painting was called and if it was "untitled," she made up names for it)...
And she especially loved all of the glass designs...
And this was one of the coolest in the museum--a huge panel with tons of separate mirrored tiles. If you stood just right you could get some really cool pictures...
(that's me with my camera!)
I hate that I didn't get pictures of the other forms of relaxing fun we had over the weekend-- namely, hanging out at the swimming pool, reading, and eating way too much food!
It was a really nice chance to get away from all the busy-ness and usual activities, and I'm so glad we decided to "go with the flow" and not let the tournament cancellation get us down.
(In fact, if I wrote a book of "Life's Lessons," that would have to be one of the big ones...Go with the flow!!)
How was your weekend?

"Go with the flow" works for me. Our saying is, "It's all part of the adventure".

Travis--The Under the Sea film was really fun. And the 3-D on it was awesome; it was like the sea lions were swimming right beside you.
