School's Out for Summer . . . and a few random happenings
Yesterday was the girls' last day at school, so they are no officially out for summer. And they seem to be very excited!! We have lots of big plans for the summer, so it will be a BUSY time along with being a FUN time.
Some things I'm looking forward to this summer-- hanging out at the pool (we go several times a week and it's a great way to visit with friends and just RELAX); McKenna going to SLU in Washington, D.C. (I'm not going with her,but I can live vicariously through her; lol); getting a little kiddie pool and letting Sydney (and the other girls, too) have backyard summer fun; speaking at the Southern Christian Writers Conference (it's coming up soon--June 2,3--and is always a highlight of June); doing All-Stars with Delaney (softball's always a big part of our summer and we'll cross our fingers that we can get to the state tourney this time); taking (hopefully) a trip to Texas sometime; taking an end-of-summer trip to Savannah and Tybee Island; doing some day trips; drinking lemonade; eating watermelon; wearing shorts and flip flops; getting a tan; sleeping late!
Last night, McKenna had a great game--she made a double play at shortstop (very exciting!; it was the last play of the game!). The night before, Delaney's team lost to the only undefeated team at the park by ONE point. Deaney pitched so GREAT, but came up short 2-1. I was so proud of her, though!
Making plans for an anniversary weekend with Gary. I'm SO looking forward to this--we need a day or two away really bad!! We are going to some SEC baseball games, spending the night at the Wynfrey (a fancy-shmancy hotel here in Bham), and doing "date night" stuff (out to eat, talking, dancing if we could find a good place).
Off to finish getting ready. It's 11 a.m. and I still don't have my makeup on. Have a great Wednesday!
