The Last Time we were in Disney (for Flashback Friday) . . . Ready to Go Again . . . and an Impossible Question

But, first, we must stop for an important News Bulletin--Sydney, who is 2 1/2 going on 13, has heretefore refused to go to the potty. She is smart as a whip (you should hear the sentences she comes up with!) and will tell you, "I stinky. Change me" or "I just don wanna go to the potty." Well, yesterday she went THREE times. Okay, now I'm stretching just a little bit on two of them, but I'm grasping for any sort of success.

The first time she had wet her panties (during the day I'm putting her in regular panties, thinking if she's soaking wet she'll want to go the potty; Ya think it would work!) and came to the bathroom to say she had to go to the potty. Now that in and of itself was a big thing, so I hugged her and praised her for that. Then she actually sat down and went some more. So . . . more hugs, "I'm so proud of you," yadda, yadda, yadda.

The second time was also kind of a cheat, but it's too precious not to share! After the first success, I let her run around naked for a little while--thinking she might need to go again and can run back to the bathroom. Well, about 15 minutes later she comes to be with POOP on her hands!! Ugh!!!! "I go poopy, Mommy." Yes, she did and good for her--except why couldn't it be somewhere other than THAT! But, she sits down on the potty and actually finishes going. " So . . . more hugs, "I'm so proud of you," etcetera, etcetera, etcetera. (And then the cleansing ritual, trying to get poop off of the hands and the potty.) Is that more than you guys needed to know? Sorry . . .

The third time was a legitimate "sit down and go potty," so YAY!!!!

We're getting there, slowly but surely.

And now, for a Flashback Friday posting today--

The Last Time We Were in Disney . . .

These are pictures of us at Disney World back in 2001. Look how small Delaney is in those pics (she was 5!) and McKenna is still just a kid! (And, of course, we couldn't even imagine that Scout would be here now!)

At Minnie Mouse's house--

Hugging Chip and Dale ( I couldn't find the picture of Gary hugging the Little Mermaid; now that was a precious memory! He thought she was pretty cute!)--

Gary and the girls with that bug (can't remember a name!) from "A Bug's Life"--

Now, fast forward to 2006, and we're heading out to Disney World tonight LATE. I'm going (and maybe Gary and the girls) with McKenna to her football game down in Tuscaloosa (about an hour away) to play Tuscaloosa County High. TCHS is my high school alma mater, so I definitely want to go to it! It should bring back all sort of fun, sentimental memories! But I sure hope Hueytown stomps my old school--because Hueytown has lost only 1 game and are on their way, it looks, to the state playoffs if they keep winning.

Anyway, we'll be going there, then bringing McKenna back and getting her settled in with our friends that she's staying with for the week, then it's off to Orlando--probably around 2 a.m.!

Some of the things we're looking forward to . . .

We get to hang out at Coronado Springs Resort. One thing we learned the last time we went to Disney is that you really want to stay inside Disney World at one of the resorts; it just makes it so much easier to get around, and the resorts have great restaurants and pools; you can spend some of your time just hanging out there and it's as fun as going into one of the parks.

And speaking of the pool . . . it's an elaborate Mexican design, with slides and spitting Mayan statues and such. The kids will LOVE this, I predict!

And then, of course, we can't wait to see Cinderella's Castle (up at the top of my post) and Sydney keeps talking about the Dumbo Ride.

That probably is what I'm looking forward to this trip the most--seeing Sydney experience it for the first time! (I just hate that McKenna won't be there to see it too!)

I still haven't packed, so it will be a busy day here at the house getting everything ready!

We don't know what the Internet access will be like down there, but hopefully it will be easy to get on. If it is, we will update with some pictures and such during our trip. If not, it may be next week until we "see" each other again!

Now . . in closing . . . how about an Impossible Question for this Friday?

Despite Disney World being our main focus this weekend it is a Friday, which means tomorrow is an important Sports Saturday. We will arrive at DW just in time to crash in front of the television and watch Alabama vs. Ole Miss, plus there are a lot of other good football games tomorrow. So, the question is

* The first time THIS happened at a sporting event was in 1981. What is it?

ADDED-- Carol S came in with the correct answer on this one. And actually, Gary and Delaney got it right AFTER they made about 20 attempts and I gave them three hints! So, maybe they get partial credit . . .

The answer is : The Wave

(personally, that's one of our favorite things about going to football games. At the last Bama game she went to with me, D got a bigger kick out of the wave making it around the stadium than anything!)

Could be easy, or tricky . . . let's see what some of you have to guess! I'll update (in between packing!) when a correct answer is given.

Hope all of you have a wonderful weekend! See ya soon!

I am so looking forward to hearing all about your trip. Just love the poop story lol - Ryan also did that when he was two - was all ready potty trained but decided it would be more fun to do it on the tiled floor and then to make it even more fun - rub it all over the floor trying "to clean up" lol!
