Just a Fun "Meme" for Random Tuesday

But first . . . what's going on in my life right now?

* I think I gained a few pounds over Thanksgiving. My jeans were much harder to zip up yesterday!

* We had our annual Tree Decorating time at church on Sunday night and that got me in the mood for Christmas. Nothing like "Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer," "Silent Night," and a big ole decorated Christmas tree to get you in the mood!

* Things are changing down here at Bama AGAIN. We fired Coach Shula and now we're on the hunt for a new football coach. Please, get us someone BIG who can get us on the championship trail!

* All that talk is eclipsing the fact that the Bama basketball team is #7 in the country! Roll Tide! (I really need to get myself to a game soon!)

* The Dallas Cowboys are BACK!!

* Sunday was Gary's birthday and Scout sang a new version of the little add-on that my girls do to the "Happy Birthday" song. (Their version says: "You're growing old/ You've got gray hair/ You smell like a skunk/ You live in a dump.") Scout's version was: "You're going home/ You have your hair/ You smelled a skunk/ You live in a dunk." SO funny!!!! I told Gary: "At least you have your hair!"

* Why is it so hard to get back working today? I have an article that MUST get done tomorrow and I have absolutely NO motivation to do so!

* I'm SO ticked off! I'm stting here typing this and realize that I totally missed "Heroes" tonight. I've yet to miss an episode this season and I just totally forgot about it tonight! And I can't download it from itunes until after Wednesday. That sucks!

* I learned what a "Meme" is .. . which is actually going to segue you into my Random Tuesday questions for the day! (I'd heard the term "meme" used everywhere, but was clueless as to what it was. Now I know! About.com gave me this definition: "A meme is an idea, question, statement or project that is posted in one blog and answered to in many other blogs. Memes are used to propagate ideas in the blogosphere. Some blogs or web sites post memes on a daily, weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis." (And oh, by the way, "meme" is pronounced so it rhymes with "dream"! You learn something everyday, don't you?)

So, for your enjoyment--and to propagate throughout Blogsophere (I think that's where we are!)--here is a Purely Random and Fun Meme for this Random Tuesday. Just 5 fun questions to consider and answer!

(As usual, share your answers with me here or let us know where you've posted them on your own blog!)

1. If you know you're going to be spending a quiet day at home reading, watching tv, etc., do you change out of your PJs?

Change out of my pajamas (I’m weird; I can’t stay in them all day long. I also have to wash my hair and at least put on some lipstick. But I will wear some slouchy, ugly sweat pants and put my hair up in a ponytail!)

2. What do you do to pass the time on a long car trip?

Read, or play “Guess that song, artist, and year” while listening to Gary’s Sirius Satellite "Big 80s" channel

3. If you had to date one of the seven dwarves, who would you choose and why? (Your options are Bashful, Doc, Dopey, Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy, and Sneezy).

It would have to be Happy

4. What one thing would you recommend that everyone try at least once in their life?

A few ideas: Travel somewhere you've never traveled before, make out in a car or on the beach (as an adult!), spend too much money on dinner out!

5. If you were hosting a dinner party and were able to have one writer, one musician and one actor of your choice as guests, who would be at your table, and what would you feed them?

Gosh, that’s a hard one (and I’m going with live people, although that wasn’t really said here). I’d say: Harper Lee (author of To Kill a Mockingbird), Van Morrison (he would provide awesome dinner music and, besides, our wedding song was a Morrison song so I get all happy whenever I hear him!), and John Cusack (just so I could stare at him all dinner long). I’d feed them some really decadent items like Lobster, Crème Brulee, and some great martinis! (Or maybe I’d go with Janet Evanovich, Jimmy Buffett, and John Cusack—I can’t change him!—and have something really fun like barbecue!)

So . . . send along your answers!

I really enjoyed seeing some of you wander in yesterday to my blog. It seems like I've been a bit "out of the loop" since Thanksgiving, but it was nice to see some of you other bloggers reappear! I hope all of you had a wonderful weekend and I hope to "hear" back from some of you!

Thanks for the explanation of a "meme." In my head, I have been pronouncing it like the French "mimi."

And I would so invited Harper Lee to dinner. Can I come to your dinner if she comes?

Love your questions, going to have to work them in...

Oops, sorry about the anonymous post...that was me!

1. Sweat pants and a t-shirt for sure.

2. I usually pass the time on a long driving trip by driving since I'm usually the one who drives. The ipod is plugged in to provide tunes. Will usually reads out of various magazines that we've got, and there is a lot of talking.

3. I would have to go with Doc. Happy is a good second choice, but sometimes Happy might be too Happy.

4. Try writing a short story, or a novel. Some work of ficition. Getting your creative juices flowing that way can be a lot of fun!

5. Writer: Michael Chabon (He wrote my favorite book "The Amazing Adventures of Kavailer and Clay"), musician: Madonna, actor: Phillip Seymour Hoffman. It just seems like with them we'd have some really good conversation. I'd love to serve some good comfort food like Chicken Fried Steak, gravy, mashed potatoes and corn with a good chocolate desert of some kind.

Red Ed--I know! In my head, I think I was pronouncing it like "mimi" too. Of course, we can keep saying it like that if we like it! LOL yep, you can so come to my Harper Lee dinner party!
Anonymous Liz--Ha!
Jeff--Hey! Great to see you! I love your list! You're right--Happy might be too happy! And your idea to write something creative is a great thing for people to try! And a great dinner party too!
Toya--Go Cowboys! you know me--I will definitely be taking the pics!
Aimeslee--I just want and checked yours out! I love Kinky F--he is a riot and what a great guest to have at your little dinner. Can I come too!

how is my favorite blogging family doing today? I will pop around a bit later to do da meme!

Linda said...

1-Nope

2-Mostly sleep but when I am not sleeping the kiddos and I usually play games. We also like to do this. When a car passes us on the highway we like to pop up a super hero in the window to watch the reaction of the people in the passing car. We found Hulk gets more surprised looks then Spiderman.

3-Bashful It is always the quiet ones that have a wild streak in them.

4-Stand at the edge of the beach and take in the wonders of the ocean.

5-John Grisham(my fav), Chris Martin(Coldplay) and Julia Roberts. We would of a buffet of different dishes and desserts.

ROFLOL! LOVE YOUR ANSWER TO NUMBER FOUR! LOL

1. If you know you're going to be spending a quiet day at home reading, watching tv, etc., do you change out of your PJs?
NO I LIKE STAYING IN MY PJ'S. I MAY EVEN SHOWER AND THEN PUT THEM BACK ON.

2. What do you do to pass the time on a long car trip?
READ, TALK TO MY HUBBY OR WHOEVER ELSE IS WITH ME. AND SOMETIMES WE PUT THE RADIO ON SCAN AND SEE HOW MANY SONGS I KNOW. MY HUSBAND IS IMPRESSED WITH THE AMOUNT OF SONGS I KNOW AND FROM EVER ERA.

3. If you had to date one of the seven dwarves, who would you choose and why? (Your options are Bashful, Doc, Dopey, Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy, and Sneezy).
WOW THAT'S A HARD ONE. I LOVE THEM ALL. I THINK THAT I WOULD HAVE TO SAY HAPPY TOO.

4. What one thing would you recommend that everyone try at least once in their life?
TRAVEL! DEFINATELLY.

5. If you were hosting a dinner party and were able to have one writer, one musician and one actor of your choice as guests, who would be at your table, and what would you feed them?
WELL I'VE ALREADY MET TWO OF MY FAVORITE AUTHORS BUT I LIKE THEM LOTS, SO ROBIN JONES GUNN.
NICKELCREEK (THEY ARE ACTUALLY A GROUP) AND MATTHEW MCCONAUHEY (DEFINFATELLY TO LOOK AT BUT WHEN THE MUSIC ISN'T PLAYING HE WOULD JUST BE TALKING ABOUT ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING. I LOVE TO HEAR HIM SPEAK.
I'D MAYBE SERVE SOMETHING FANCY OR JUST SOME GOOD OLD MEXICAN AND MARGARITAS.

OH AND CHERYL I LOVE John CusacK TOO. HE'S SUCH A CUTIE PIE.

. If you know you're going to be spending a quiet day at home reading, watching tv, etc., do you change out of your PJs?
Yes. I can't stand to be in my pajamas all day. It makes me feel funky! hehe

2. What do you do to pass the time on a long car trip?
We play punch bug...can't punch back, or the abc game...where you find signs, bill boards, anything that BEGINS with the letter of the alphabet you're on, but you have to go in order, OR name that tune & artist on the radio.

3. If you had to date one of the seven dwarves, who would you choose and why? (Your options are Bashful, Doc, Dopey, Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy, and Sneezy).
...not interested in any of those! hehe

4. What one thing would you recommend that everyone try at least once in their life?
That's a hard one. Either snow skiing or hunting. And...on the hunting, (for you Cheryl, you wouldn't have to kill anything) go out in the woods and see all the little, and big, creatures playing in their environment and just enjoy nature.

5. If you were hosting a dinner party and were able to have one writer, one musician and one actor of your choice as guests, who would be at your table, and what would you feed them?
The writer would have to be Joyce Meyer so I could tell her thank you for her inspirational books that have helped change our lives.
The musician would have to be Trace Adkins. I love his music and he reminds me so much of Ryan with his songs.
The actor would have to be Sean Connery, the only real 007. I just love him and everything he's ever been in.

I would feed them a good old fashioned country meal... For appetizers, I would grill some marinated deer tenderloin wrapped in bacon. mmm mmm good! The entree - either pork chops or chicken seasoned and cooked on the grill, with corn on the cob, either sweet potato casserole (Ryan's favorite) or creamed potatoes, fried okra, green beans, squash casserole, cornbread, and fresh sliced tomatoes. For dessert - banana pudding and hot fudge pudding cake with homeade vanilla ice cream. Sounds good! It's making me hungry!

Anonymous said...

1. I would change into sweat pants and a t-shirt which isn’t much of a change really because I sleep in a t-shirt (redneck lingerie)

2. I usually have magazines or the paper and discuss them in general throughout the trip.

3. Maybe Doc, if any of them have money it would be him.

4. A Calzone at the Best Little Italian Restaurant (for the laughs). (Jennifer, seriously the thing is as big as a size 13 shoe)

Hmmmm, a spa day maybe, more for women, just to be soooo pampered.

5. I’d say: Stephen King (he could tell us a good scary story), Barbra Streisand (to sing, not to talk) Keanu Reeves (Matrix did it for me) or Bruce Willis (I just think he’s cool) I’d feed them one of my specialties, lasagna probably or shrimp fettuccini.

Finally getting a chance to catch up on my blog-reading! Thanks for your posts about Christmas...really getting me in the mood. Hopefully we'll get us a good coach...we need to get back to where we once were...like the awesome 92 year! And Yippee for Alabama basketball...we got a good team. I also want to throw in a "Go Seahawks" for their win last night...Go Shaun Alexander!

Anonymous said...

1. Eventually, I would change them out and put some jeans or sweat pants on. The day I decide to stay in them all day would be the day I win the sweepstakes!!!

2. This may sound to "teenager," but I love to roll the windows down, hang my foot out of the door, and listen to LOUD music. Music always passes the time away!

3. It would have to be Happy! The others would just be a bore to me.

4. Okay, I hope I don't offend anyone and I'm not being morbid, but I would suggest that everyone go to a black funeral at least once in their life. If you have every been to one you know what I'm talking about.

5. That one is hard! I guess the writer would be Steven Spielberg, so I could find out what type of childhood he really had!!! The musician would be John Mayer, just because I love the way he plays and the way he sings. The actor would be Matthew McConaughey...... He is the most beautiful man on this planet and I love to hear him talk! Since I am a real simple person and only cook certain meals, I would probably have spaghetti, meatloaf, or chicken casserole. We would probably have Kylie's brownies for dessert.

Enjoyed your meme (also never knew it was prounced like it rhymes with dream!).

Totally agree with Van Morrison about the music, I love his stuff and have almost all his CD's but once I went to hear him perform and though the music was great, he was not a performer and I was so disappointed, aparently he doesn't like performing (kinda hard for a musician!). So maybe at your meal you might be just as well sticking his CD in your stereo!!!!

You guys are so fun this morning! Love all your answers!
Amanda--Glad I can help out! LOL Going to check yours in a sec!
New Mom--See ya in a bit! We're doing just FINE!
Beady--Love your dinner guests! Love Coldplay!
Adrienne--LOL! Hey, it's true! Nothing like rolling around on a beach!
Andy--My DH says the same thing about me. he is amazed that I can tell you the year a song came out as soon as I hear it! And you should see me play Jeopardy!
Hold on, I'll be back for comments to the rest in a minute. Syd's calling . . .

1. Probably into some sweatpants and a big t-shirt or sweatshirt, depending on the time of the year!

2. Sing like a madwoman to all my cd's (I'm generally hoarse by the time I get to my mom & dad's); listen to books on tape (Jim Dale is great on the Harry Potter ones!)

3. Doc...obviously the only one of the bunch with any real ambition, and yet, always seems jolly...

4.Going somewhere you have never been; preferably another country! Also, once in a while, get that ginormous hot fudge kill-me-with-chocolate dessert after dinner out! Oh, and skiing. That is so much fun...even when you suck, as I do.

5. Marian Keyes (or Patricia Cornwell...I like Evanovich too); Mike Reno of Loverboy...no, just kidding...um, actually, maybe the Dixie Chicks, you know that would be an interesting conversation...and, of COURSE...John Cusack!!! And for dinner...pasta. I loooove pasta. Only, eating pasta in front of John is probably not a good idea as I generally need a bib to eat.

Nothing gets me in the Christmas mood like music. Like Cheech & Chongs Santa and His Old Ladt Christmas Song"

The memories, like catholic school Christmas pageants, which behind the stage was really the bataan death march LOL

have a great day sweet lady, and why the cowboys, and not the Falcons?

Anonymous said...

1. Well, I dont wear pj's, it's usually shorts and a tshirt and yeah, I'd keep it on all day or put on some clean ones after I shower

2. Long trips include CD's playing, lots of conversation and the Alphabet game, we actually have two versions. The easy one, you just have to find each letter of the alphabet somewhere outside the vehicle, billboard, street sign, etc... The more difficult version, each letter has to start a word on the billboard, street sign, etc... This one can take a LONG time to complete.

3. I have to go with Dopey because no one loves life more than Dopey and you could get him to do anything you wanted.

4. Go to an open field at night where there are absolutely NO city lights nearby and just sit and experience the sheer awesomeness of the universe

5. Author: Patricia Cornwell or Dean Koontz or Anne Rice; Musician: Fred LeBlanc (drummer/lead singer of the band Cowboymouth); Actor: Johnny Depp

What to serve these people? In Fred's honor and I think the other two would like it also, Cajun. I'd let Da Cajun Shak from Panama City Beach, Fla cater it.

These are really good questions....I think I'll do a post on them for tomorrow's post in my blog! :) I'll come back and let you know when it's up.

Anonymous said...

1. Yes. I don’t want to, but someone may come by!!

2. Read. Have to listen to David’s music! HA! Sleep.

3. Happy would definitely make me “happy,” but I just might try to cheer up Grumpy, and definitely might have to make Bashful not so bashful, and maybe find out how ditzy Dopey is. Definitely not Sleepy and Sneezy—Sleepy might crash the car, and Sneezy would give me a cold, but Doc could make me well.

4. Live in the present and relish it. (I’m preaching to myself today.)

Grow a Confederate Rose (I have no idea why it is caused Confederate) and enjoy its many, many blooms (Ours is blooming now; it blooms almost at frost; some have died; some are blooming; it gets as big as a tree.)

5.
Gabriel Garcia Marquez - anything he wants!!
Robson Green (British actor who is so cute) - ditto
Helen Mirren (British actress; she is my favorite one in the whole wide world) - ditto
can’t decide on a musician; it would have to be Elvis, but he is no longer with us.

1. If you know you're going to be spending a quiet day at home reading, watching tv, etc., do you change out of your PJs?

I'd take a shower and then put on a pair of warm flannel pj's. (even in the summer!) I'm a clean freak but love the feel of comfort...ahhh

2. What do you do to pass the time on a long car trip?

Mike and I like to listen to music together and sing..what nerds we are. And watch a movie with Hunter!!

3. If you had to date one of the seven dwarves, who would you choose and why? (Your options are Bashful, Doc, Dopey, Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy, and Sneezy).

Happy most of the time but maybe Sneezy since I have seasonal allergies:) ha ha

4. What one thing would you recommend that everyone try at least once in their life?

Something crazy, just to say you did it, travel and see the world and SNOW SKI...We got every year and I love it...it's SO exhilirating. (and I KNOW I probaly spelled that wrong:)

5. If you were hosting a dinner party and were able to have one writer, one musician and one actor of your choice as guests, who would be at your table, and what would you feed them?

Max Lucado, I've read several of his books and really enjoy him. Josh Groban because I think he has a beautiful voice and I'm a hopeless romantic:) Will Smith..I can't think of an actor right now but what I know of him that I've heard of him, I respect his values and I think he's a great actor. I'd probably have Steak, Baked Potato, Salad and some nice healthy dessert. I do that menu a lot when I entertain and I guess, would hope to impress them and show my gratitide.
I hope my answers didn't bore you to death:) :) :)

So . . . send along your answers!

Miss--Ha, about the "flirting rut" on your blog!
Jenn-Love your answers! I'm really wanting a steak and baked potato now, after reading yours!

1. Yes. I, like you, do not like wearing pjs all day long. Only when I clean, do I wear pjs for a long time.

2. Read. Sleep. Listen to the kids' movie.

3. Happy. Or Doc.

4. Jumping on a trampoline with kids.

5. hmmm... Julie Andrews. She ia all three. (She writes children's books, and I love her musicals!) I have no idea what I would serve though.

Thanks for the fun!!

Danielle Steel, Josh Groban and for the Actor, Chris Rock - Traditional South African Food - Chicken Feet and insides, Mopani worms, Mielie pap and tamatoe and onion sauce with spinach - eeewwww, I dont think I would actually feed them the chicken feet - i dont even eat it or the worms for that matter!!! lol Maybe just a traditional braai with lots of salads, red wine and beer! We can sit around have a chat and a good laugh!!!!

I'm loving the new music feature to your blog! Sometimes I keep the window open so I can jam along while I do something else. But only for about 3 repetitions of the song of the day. Then I have to move on. BUT, it gives me something to look forward to when I come back. :)
