[ First off, I gotta say how much I loved reading all of your comments on my previous post. I'm glad to see that I inspired some of you to make your own lists. I think that life is all about having things to LOOK FORWARD to, and to HAVE JOY in all things, so making my "39 things" list was right up my alley. I can't wait to tackle some of the plans on my list . . . to EXPERIENCE some things for the first time, and to do some things again that bring me JOY! And I gotta say that Pam's comment made me smile the most. Pam is 63, and said she rode a roller coaster for the first time after her 60th birthday. And then she got a tattoo after her 61st! I just love that attitude; you can tell Pam loves life! And it reminds me of something my Mom tells me all the time. She said that she thought life got interesting after 40, until she turned 50, and then until she turned 60. Life is what you make it, she believes, at whatever age you are! And yes... I wish it could be all of you that I could meet "in real life." Theresa, I'm holding you to that pajama party someday! lol ]

And, now, my post and some photos for today...

What Can You Find to Do on a Beautiful Spring Day?

Yesterday was an absolutely beautiful early-Spring day! The birds were singing, a warm wind was blowing, and there was not a cloud in sight in that gorgeous blue sky. So, what's a girl to do on such a lovely day?

Well, first this girl decided it was time to clean out some closets! I am not a really fussy cleaner and I would prefer to never do housework if at all possible, but there are some days (usually on nice, Spring days like yesterday) that just make me want to clean out my closets! I filled up three bags of clothes that I don't wear anymore, and then filled up another small bag from Sydney's room. Then I took them off to my my church's Clothes Closet, which is such an awesome ministry. (So, I guess that's a challenge from me to you today: Clean out your house and donate any nice clothing to a local ministry. There are people who will truly appreciate your cast-offs!)

Then, Sydney and I headed off to the thrift store to do some searching for a few items that Delaney needs for the school play she's performing in tonight and tomorrow. Once we found the needed navy blue skirt and lunchbox, Sydney squealed with excitement over the adorable pink halter dress (photos below!) and the two pack of Barbies for 99 cents she found for herself; then I squealed with excitement when I found a hardcover copy of The Time Traveler's Wife for $2.00 (have any of you read this? I've heard it's really good!). Have I ever told you how much I love the thrift store?

After working so hard to spend $9, I decided that the only true way to celebrate was with a dozen Krispy Kreme doughnuts (they are, after all, the perfect Spring snack!). Gary had given me a coupon for a free dozen doughnuts, so I called Gary after we bought them with the message, "I really should curse you for this, but instead I'm going to thank you!" When we went, the machines were rolling and we got to watch the doughnuts being fried and glazed. As Sydney said with her mouth full as we drove away, "I sure love that factory." Me too, sweetie!

And, you know, these can't be too bad for you. Can they? After all, they have zero trans fat! LOL

Filled up on doughnuts (I think I ate three in five minutes!), we headed off to pick McKenna up from school and take her to Golf Team practice. I don't know if many of you remember me telling you last year about how she joined the golf team, but it really is a funny thing! McKenna had only played Putt Putt golf, but decided that she wanted to join the team. She mostly just loves joining and being a member of things at school... you know, the color guard, the debate team, the Beta club, etc., etc. (When she wanted to join the Japanese club last week, I had to put my foot down! I'm serious! They were starting an after-school group to learn Japanese!) Anyway...she's on the Golf Team now and she actually really seems to enjoy it. She hasn't been in a tournament yet, but they have three scheduled for this year. And right now they spend two afternoons a week at the driving range working on their drives and putts and all that stuff!

Because it was so gorgeous yesterday, Sydney and I decided to hang around and watch her practice (besides, I wanted to see if she was actually learning and progressing at all!).

Sydney had to golf in her new dress from the thrift store!

And then we watched McKenna for a while (oh boy, does she hate me for catching on camera the one time she missed the ball and kicked up dirt instead! LOL).

McKenna was the only female member of the team at practice, so the coach actually spent almost an hour given her instructions and helping her out. She's learning and getting better (her goal is to get to where she can drive it out to that 200 yard line, which is about the fourth white sign back there. A lot of her drives weren't even to the first sign, but she did get several out to about 125. I was really proud of how hard she was working!)

Of course, it didn't take long for Sydney to want to golf. So, she borrowed one of McKenna's clubs (a tad bit big for her!!) and spent the rest of the time playing. Look behind her and you can see that, yes, she found a pink golf ball to use. Only pink would work for her!

After working on the range, McKenna went to work some on the green. And, of course, Sydney had to try it out too!

Today looks like it's shaping up to be just as gorgeous! We may have to get back outside in the warm weather again!! (And then tonight, it's off to watch Delaney in her first school play. Another diva in the making! lol)

I hope you all have a beautiful day too!!

My goal is to enjoy life too, I didn't mind hitting 40, looking forward to 50,60,70,80,90,100 anything after that is gravy!

Awesome that she is interesting in golf. I used to caddy for my Dad but my heart just wasn't in it to be a seriousl golfer.

Yummm for Krispy Kreme. I love Sydney's "factory comment" LOL We used to live down the street from KK and it's really a blessing we moved or I would probably be 400 lbs by now!

FIRST of all...do you know I have NEVER been to a thrift store? I hear so many people say that you can get really good deals and good stuff there. But I've just never been. I need to get out more, don't I?

I have been craving Krispy Kreme donuts for about 3 months now. And I have YET to get some. I called myself trying to "get a fix" of them from the grocery store. They sell them there. But there's just something about getting them FROM Krispy Kreme. And then to have the "HOT" sign on...talk about heaven on earth. The location that's closest to us, really isn't that close. I guess I'm just gonna have to make that trek one day...and SOON!!

Golf, huh? Well, I'm interested to see how she progresses. Keep us up to date on that endeavor. :-)

Lastly, don't you just LOVE this weather WE are having? It was beautiful here yesterday and today. But that's about to change...ARGH!!!

Anyway, have a good night. Talk to you soon. wink.

Hey! If McKenna needs some golf lessons or would like to go out to play with me one day, I can give her the names and numbers of some really good pros. (Don't forget Mark used to be a pro) I need to start playing more but would love another girl to play with. Let me know!

Oh we were just debating whether to drive to town for some Krispy Kremes. That "hot and now" sign should be flashing and reading your post just sealed the deal! LOL! Have a great weekend.
