I got this from a Chinese restaurant not long ago and was, at first, upset that I hadn't received a "real" fortune (fortune cookies, if you haven't noticed lately, don't seem to have fortunes in them anymore; they are usually philosophical "statements" instead). But I quickly got over being upset and enjoyed the message I'd received.

Life is full of curves, isn't it?

And it's the curves that make it interesting.

Little curves that just kinda cause a blip in our plans; wider curves that make you change your plans and go in another direction (take a different road, go experience a different view!); even those big, winding, uphill curves that knock the wind out of us.

When I think back on my life so far, I see that those "curves" are what have caused me to grow; they also have made me stop and smell the roses, and see something that I might not have ever seen otherwise (kind of like taking the more scenic view during vacation, even if takes longer); and, in time, they made me the person I am today.

So, I'm not afraid of curves. I welcome them. And, as my fortune cookie told me, they can even be quite pleasant. As long as you know to not be afraid of them and, perhaps, to even enjoy them a little bit while you're driving down them.

Just a little bit of thought for your Wednesday morning.

What do you think?

I totally agree... if it hadn't been for the curves that life have thrown me, I would NOT be the woman I am today. Great post.

Curves are what have brought me to the place where I am. I truly believe God has "blessed" me with those curves.

I just read your post of yesterday and will do it later.

Have a happy 4th.

Curves are wonderful! (Have you seen a picture of me lately? LOL! OHHH not those kind of curves? OK!)

Really, the curves in life are what MAKE life. If it was always straight and narrow, wouldn't that be boring? I say, throw a curve in here and there. But, please, can you leave out the bumps in the road? ROFL! Kidding! Kidding! Bumps are good too!

I think I need a curve right now, not a huge one but a little shake-up never hurt anyone.
I feel, stuck in a rut or something. I dunno.

love the fortune and while curves may not always be welcoming they do help you to grow and are usually good.

I was just thinking today about how my life is going down a different path than I thought it would have. If you would have told me a year ago that I would be single and living in NY again I would have laughed. Oh how things change when we least expect it and in the end, I now see that this was the change I needed in my life. I was headed down the wrong path and needed to be shoved on the correct one!

Kathy--Ha ha on the curves!! (I have enough of those sorts of curves too!)

Queen--I kinda feel that way too. Sometimes you're just ready for something new, a new project, some new excitement, something.

Andy--yes, they do.

Jeff-Absolutely.

Ms. L--Isn't that kinda funny how we want more curves the older we get? I guess we want new adventures.

Songbird--I hope you all have a wonderful 4th too!

Kat--Isn't it crazy how life can change so drastically so quickly? And I know your "curves" were definitely for the best.

Telah--It definitely made me think.

Ed--The food WAS surprisingly spicy. But VERY good!!
