Good Late Sunday Evening

Despite the fact that there was ALL sorts of excitement going on this weekend (Sydney's first sleepover, Delaney going to a student government conference, girls night out with a big bunch of friends, McKenna's drama performance, and just lots of overall outdoor fun because of the absolutely gorgeous weather going on down South), I took just only a few pictures (which is really uncharacteristic of me).

The only event I got pictures of was perhaps the most exciting of the weekend..Sydney's Friday night softball game against the only team that' s beat us all season. The other team, in fact, was undefeated going into the game...but we ended up getting a huge WIN, and now we are in first place for the second half of the season.

Sydney herself had some very exciting moments during the game. She went two for three (struck out once, but got hits and scored the other two times). In fact, in the last inning, she scored the point that gave us the win (which, believe me, she has told EVERYone about all weekend!).

She also got to play second base, because our regular starter there was out sick for the night. Gary's been practicing her there a lot, but this was the first time she's played there the whole game and let me just say...she is an absolute natural right there. For someone her size, it's really just crazy! She didn't let a ball get by her, and she even threw a girl out at first. (In the last picture below, you can see one of the balls that she stopped and got right under her legs.) She consistetly made great plays--stopping balls, stopping runners from advancing to the next base, and just playing really smart. I am so excited for her, and she just loves playing!

Here are a few pics of Scout during the game (the first one cracks me up, because you can see the faces of most of the opposing fans; I don't think they're happy that we're beating them)...

I hope all of you had a wonderful weekend!

(by the way...we rented "Slumdog Millionaire" last night and really loved it. Have any of you seen it? If you haven't, I highly recommend it.)

Now, I'm off to get just a few hours of sleep before I have to be up at the virtual crack of dawn to get Delaney to her student conference early in the a.m. (I may just have to get me a good shot of Starbucks coffee while I'm out...I have a long day, and a long week, ahead of me. But it's all good!)

I have been reluctant to see "Slumdog". Everyone recommends it, but I still hold back. Don't know why. Maybe we'll do that this coming weekend.

Great shots of Scout playing ball.

Have a good day. It's supposed to be 87 here. We're going to lunch and walking on the canal later.

This weekend has been great for me as well! Ray and I went to Dega. His friend Dylan came along as well. We all had a blast! We, also, all got sunburnt. I think I got the worst of it. The boys just got burnt on their feet and necks. I've got it all over my shoulders, neck, chest, legs, and feet. Haha The boys just can't take pain :P

I can just imagine how excited Sydney was about the win!

We had some beautiful weather here too! Of course, now it's supposed to be raining for the next two years straight! LOL!

Starbucks ALWAYS helps! LOL!

Yvonne--Yay!!!!! I'll pop by your blog real soon!

Adrienne--You get up TOO early for me. I'd be dead by noon! :-)

Gin--Go Sydney! LOL

Hippo--Slumdog is really very disturbing at the beginning, in the flashback scenes of his childhood. Some of it made me feel uncomfortable...but it is very uplifting and sweet and rewarding at the end. I think you'd like it a lot.
